Hotel Steglitz International is a well-maintained hotel with average amenities, lacking in some areas. In brief, it is a good option for the Steglitz and greater Berlin area, but the ups are balanced by the downs.
Pros:
-Staff was well versed in German and English, so communication was easy.
-Hotel was clean and well maintained. The exterior is dated, but the interiors were all fairly modern and up to date. The bathrooms in particular were very nice.
-Exceptionally well located. Right next to the U-Bahn, the Bus, and not far from the S-Bahn. It is also central to Steglitz's shopping and dining district, so there are lots of great local options.
-Mini-Bar pricing was surprisingly affordable, BUT there is an Edeka right next door that sells almost all the same items at about a Euro cheaper or more, so I don't know why they have a mini-bar at all.
Cons:
-Bed was extremely uncomfortable, and a room with two double beds was actually two single beds pushed together to form a pseudo-queen bed.
-Very few amenities. No free breakfast (though this is usual in Europe), no microwave, no coffee maker in room, very limited mini-fridge space.
-The wireless Internet is free, but absolutely sucks with extremely unreliable connections. I remember dial up speeds being faster. Plus, they limited you to three connections PER ROOM. I was traveling on business and my room-partner and I both had cell phones, tablets, and laptops we needed to connect. As a result, we only were able to get limited work done in the hotel. This is a BIG downside, especially given how much international business happens in Germany.
-The bathrooms have a weird glass door that is virtually see-through. This is extremely awkward as it is both visible from the door and room itself. If you are sharing a room with a non-intimate travel companion, you are going to need to hang a towel over the door to give yourself privacy. I don't see any situation wherein a glass bathroom door is acceptable, to be honest.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alex A.Calgary, Canada3134515 déc. 2017
Perhaps not the most expensive hotel but boy the staff is rude. You have the feeling that they treat you like an enemy. Hotel is dated. Breakfast is average for German standards. Would I return? No thank you.

This opinion is about the cocktail Bar of this Best Western Hotel After a cinema cession just in front we were looking for a place to have a drink.
We were first to the reception to ask if it was still open (on Monday the surrounding restaurant was already closed at 10:30..) A couple was behind the desk and the man was looking at us as we were not expected or welcome at this time
The deco upstairs is quite old fashion but we went directly to the Bar Lounge and ordered cocktails.
I must say that I never had a such untasty and waterly Cosmopitan. I thought that the Barman was forgetting the vodka and the Grand Marnier and was only putting ice cubes ant cranberries juice in the shaker ! My man was gently ordering a new one as I was approaching the bar to examine the Barman's technique. No fresh lime juice but a concentrated juice out of a bottle (!), a quick vodka dash (so quick that I could not see the brand), a similar dash of Grand Marnier, cranberries juice, shacked. The result was this time completely different than the first cocktail : I was keeping the first to compare. This time it had more than a fruit juice taste but was much too acid but isn't it strange to order the same cocktail and to get two completely different results ?
We were charged for 3 cocktails and a half : the Barman considered that I had to pay half part of the first missed cocktail I tasted.
I will choose an other place for my next after cinema evening.
ps :
Cosmopolitan : 4 cl. vodka, 2 cl. Grand Marnier(or Cointreau), 2 cl. cranberry juice, 1 cl. lime juice. Shake quickly with ice and serve in a Martini glass Since 1958 it is the same recipe.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
