Hospitals, we all have to put our head inside the door of a hospital at some point and whether you are the visitor or patient it's rarely a fun experience.
I took a little visit to the A&E room here over a year ago because I fell from a height of 8 feet onto a concrete floor on my back and miraculously got away with just bad bruising.
But because It was so painful I came here to have it checked out. Thankfully I wasn't waiting very long, under an hour i would think.
The nurse who saw me was quite sympathetic when she saw my bruises and prescribed a load of codeine for me.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Helen M.Londres, Royaume-Uni042283515 mars 2008Prem's
My local hospital, so I've been in here quite a few times for various reasons. Absolutely nothing special in looks, it's a low-level sprawl. You probably won't have to worry about stairs and lifts, but be prepared for long treks and some fun finding where you are going. My visits include:
Regular blood tests: I get a form/bag from my doctor and visit on a drop-in basis. You take a ticket and there's generally very little wait. The people taking the test tend to be very good at their job too. Relatively painless service.
Physio: they have an emergency sports injury clinic which you can quickly be referred to by your doctor. Very good service: I also saw a podiatrist (I think?) to check the cause of my knee problem before being referred on to a spinal stability exercise group, which sorted the knees out! Definitely really went the extra mile to find the source of the problem.
Small operations: I've had some small operations under local, including a couple of mole removals. During one of which the nurse fainted. Yes, really After I was all finished and up on my feet I went and visited her where she was still lying down being looked after. LOL.
In patient: don't remember a massive amount about this. Probably due to being in for amnesia. I do remember I was on a mixed ward and my most prominent memory was waking up to find a man lying in a pool of pee at the bottom of my bed with his two veg hanging out the back of his 'dress' (he was being helped by the nurses). Other than that: getting made toast by the nurses in casualty (I think I was there all my first night), and once on the ward wondering why I'd got a meal I didn't order. I was discharged after ordering meals for my last day, so I guess the next occupant of my bed got my order! This was a fair few years ago now.
Casualty: Badly twisted my ankle round the corner from the hospital about 3 years ago. Since I didn't want to tie up an ambulance I hobbled in using a plank of wood I got out of skip. Of course when I arrived the ambulances were parked outside with the drivers lounging around chatting: I could have called one with a clear conscience! The ankle turned out to be a very bad twist: not broken, but as serious really, and needed physio over a couple of years and is still a weak point. Will not show off how tough I am and walk another time. Obviously it was a quiet day, and I was seen very quickly. I wouldn't count on that quick service every time! It did still take a while as I needed x-rays etc.
X-ray: also been in for other x-rays. I am not convinced you really need to wear a gown to get your neck x-rayed. They seem to think so. You may wish to take two and wear one back to front to ensure coverage.
So I don't remember anything too terrible, and have had some very good service. I feel pretty comfortable using this hospital!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Membre Qype (opitza…)Londres, Royaume-Uni22319 déc. 2008

Well there you are feeling poorly and down,if you are able go down to the Garden of Rememberance, lovely and peaceful if you want, or chat to people who are probally in a worse state than you;all the benches are named and dedicated to good people from the league of friends, who help out this hospital. its about the only place I know in london where there are sparrows, lavender grows there. and Im stuck for words, hospital staff sit there and you chat about anything.I spent 5 weeks in this hospital not to long ago,and can only truethfully say i was well looked after, the consultant and his team were great, and the nurses on my ward fantastic, understanding, and kind, because believe me after a week or two, i was not such a good patient, bored, only fault i can moan about is having to pay 4 pounds a day for a tv,
