Parisian Posh!
This otherwise unobtrusive hotel is a gem in hiding. It is centrally located in the heart of Paris within 15-20 minutes walking distance of nearly everything worth seeing: Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysees, Arc de Triumph, La Grand Palais, Le Tombeau de Napoleon, Musee du Louvre, Notre Dame, countless art and/or history museums and only a block away sits the latest epicenter of high fashion boutiques along Av Montaigne.
Polished brass, marbled floors, mohagony paneling, uniformed doormen... Everything feels brand-new and opulent. It was certainly the finest way to be introduced to continental Europe...
Whereas the lobby desk feels marginally cramped if more than two people are standing at the desk, the luxuriousness of the bar and lounge a few steps beyond more than compensate for a cramped lobby.
The peace de resistance are undoubtedly the sizeable, modernized and ultra-clean rooms. There is no want for space. Admittedly, there is little to see out the French door (naturally) windows, but the Parisian air is clean and fresh. Expect an interesting gadget in the bathroom: a baday...
With all of my wonton drivel there's only one qualm... the price for food and drinks. Hotels are known to charge exorbitant amounts, but 20 Euro for 3 danishes and a coffee? They were good danishes... but not THAT good. A far better (and far more reasonably priced) selection of food and drink is not half a block away at the La Grand Palais (see next review). A full meal (and two glasses of wine) for the same 20 Euro.
This is an excellent place to stay while exploring the wonders of Paris. Highly recommended.
