C'est magnifique! J'aimerais bien revenir ici...
Ok let me quit my poor French and tell you in plain English that there's nothing more romantic than having a dinner boat cruise along the Seine river in Paris; either with your significant other or a group of friends.
I have to say finding this cruise was quite an adventure. My friends and I were coming back from visiting the Versailles palace, which is about 45 mins -1 hr train ride from Paris and our dinner cruise started at 7pm. We underestimated the amount of time it would take us to get back to the hotel, which was in the 11 e arrondisement (or 11th district), to the docking area along the Seine river. We got off the train nearest to the docking area and ran like a mad dog looking to find this cruise boat since we only had 20 minutes left before it starts. Go figure, there were hundreds of boat cruises sailing off that night and we couldn't find our cruise boat as depicted on the website. We called the cruise agency; spoke both in English and broken French, asking where along the river are they docking from but it didn't help. We ran across bridges and tunnels and almost got chased down by a dog. Never have I ever ran so much while on vacation and running on cobble stones is not fun either.
Two minutes left until our cruise starts, we finally spotted it across the river from where we were standing. Luckily, there was a bridge a few feet away from us and we ran like a mad dog again for the last time. I didn't care if I looked like a mess upon boarding the boat but we were greeted with friendly crew members and got us seated right away.
Menu-wise was quite interesting. You either order a package that comes with the 3 course meal with drinks or the meal without drinks. Of course, I chose the latter and ordered bouillabaisse as my main course. We had a appetizer sampler so we get to taste the following 5 different appetizers:
-Quinoa with mushrooms
-Parmesan shortbread with tomato and cheese
-Marinated swordfish with avocado
-Gazpacho Tomatoes marinated with Basil; and
-Foie Gras
Desserts included:
- Chocolate cake
- Pear with hibiscus; and
- a vanilla icecream plate with slices of mandarin oranges.
Overall, the food was decent (and probably just average according to some Parisiens). I wasn't expecting a 5-star rating, considering that it's a dinner boat cruise. I thought this was a great experience as whole despite the obstacles we encountered in trying to find it. Also, as you cruise along the river, you get to see the historic landmarks such as the Notre Dame, and Eiffel Tower, lining the Seine river. Great place for a date or even with your close friends. It was a fun and romantic night out in Paris for me.
Au revoir for now and I shall return again some day!
