PARIS.  Every time I'm in Paris I always make it a point to dine at Le Cinq.   Ok, it's not because I am also staying at the same hotel where it is located but because Le Cinq makes you feel you're really in Paris.  Le Cinq makes your dining experience an actual experience.  From the delicately perfect set tables to the elegant décor they deliver a setting for dining with grace and finesse.  The moment you are seated you are offered champagne; if you are a regular, the maitre d'hôtel would not even bother to hand you a menu and would recommend culinary decadent courses the chef concocted for that day based on your previous visits.

I've dined at Le Cinq numerous times so I am only mentioning a sampling of what I've enjoyed.  Please excuse the names as I am translating the French name into English by memory.  Some I kept in French because it sounded better.  As we all know, French is not only a language it's also an attitude.

The butter brioche with garlic spinach (see pics) is a good amuse-gueule.  It's small enough to give you a teaser and makes you wanting for more.  The brioche itself is soft and buttery.  There are times I just want to have this for dinner, lots of it!  I'm very amused!

The foie gras au torchon quince jelly pear (see pics) is another good selection.  The foie gras is very delicate and with the jelly pear, pushes it towards the edge without falling over.

One of my favorites here is the scallop in truffle juice and lentils (see pics).  Perfectly prepared.  Seared right and caramelized correctly.  The taste is well balanced.  You can taste the freshness of the scallops mingling with the subtle flavors of the truffles and the lentils.

The wild landes pigeon savoy cabbage is another superb offering.  The pigeon is young and the meat very tender.  There is not a hint of gaminess to it.  The cabbage is a great accompaniment; it looks like a condiment in a supporting role but carries itself superbly and earns its place on the plate on its own right.  My only complain, the froth.  Whoever invented "the froth" should be sent to the guillotine!  Something that looks like a drool of a baby is not appetizing at all?

Anyway, as a member of PETA (People Enjoying Tasty Animals) I am not a big fan of vegetables.  Le Cinq's roasted artichokes and mixed vegetables (see pics) is an exception though.  Intended to cleanse the palate in lieu of a salad, this savory offering is perfectly light and refreshing.

As for dessert, a Tarte Soufflé au Chocolat du Perou (see pics) is a good choice.  The coffee taste is very distinct but not overpowering.  This is one of my favorite desserts at Le Cinq.  A complimentary plate of mignardises is also served, a really nice way to close a meal.

Meals at Le Cinq usually lasts for hours, people tend to linger for the champagne and pretty much encouraged.  I for one like to linger in the lounge area, great for meeting people plus the complimentary candies is to die for.  My suggestion, unless you're a guest at the hotel make a reservation.  Le Cinq is definitely one of my favorite restaurants, I may have left my heart in San Francisco but I'll always have Paris (err Four Seasons, not Hilton eww!).
