Les Fleurs du Malt - Le Bar

Very pleasant atmosphere, great music and of course excellent variety of beers. That was nice place to stop near the river, drink beer, and go further up to the road.

This place is more specialised for beer nerds than people who just want to hang out, they don't really have outdoor setting despite the location by the river.

They don't have many taps (I'm spoiled with the amount and quality of beer bars in Copenhagen) but they have a massive bottle menu, nothing like beer bars back home or in Amsterdam, but hey, this is a wine country, so I'm happy enough.

They have a lot of space inside and although the acoustic is bad, it's still bearable for a couple of good beers!

Great craft beer pub set in the old cellar of some grander building. Lots of cubby holes and lovely and cool to sit in during the hot summers in Lyon. Ten draught keg beers on at once with loads of bottles too. Staff are friendly and will give you a taster of the beer before you order it.

It can get expensive though, so I would recommend visiting between 17:00-20:00 when it's happy hour. Buy a pint of beer (the prices on the screen are halves) and you get a chance to win it half price. Just guess the flip of the coin!

If you love beer, you will love this place. If you merely like beer, you will love it after your 1st visit. If you don't like beer, you shouldn't come here, and you are also a bad person. Easily one of the best bars for beer afficiandos I've ever encountered. Also a very attractive place set up in the style of a German beer cellar. The owner/proprietor is extremely friendly and will happily share his beer wisdom.

There are only three downsides:
1.) It's a bit brightly-lit, for a bar.
2.) Especially late at night, they've got the metal going a bit loud. Unless you _only_ want metal fans at night, maybe mix it up a bit or at least keep it below head-bashing volume.
3.) Kind of pricey, even for Vieux Lyon. I could get 2 glasses of excellent beer at a local bistro for the price of one bottle of Brooklyn Lager here.

All that having been said, if this place had a happy hour, I would sell my flat and move in.

Plain and simple: this is the ultimate craft beer bar in Lyon.

Their rotating selection of taps is top-notch, mostly focusing on European craft, from the few times I've been there (BrewDog, Siren, Mikkeler, Evil Twin...). Their bottles selection is huge as well, and includes from the classic Belgian ones to more obscure French craft, the most extreme BrewDog stuff, some North American choices as well...

They do serve a bit of food (I recommend the local saucisson) as well. They have a lot of space in there and the owners are friendly and knowledgeable.

The only downside is the place is rather pricy (a rare pint on tap can go up to 12-16€) but this will get you stuff that no other bar in Lyon has. If you're looking for cheaper, more standard beer, the Vieux Lyon pubs just a couple of minutes away will quench your thirst.

Great beer selection in Lyon, but the environment isn't so great. Low ceilings & bad lighting. However, it's clean, the staff is great, and did I mention the awesome beer selection!
