Came here for the first time. There is validated parking but VERY limited. They also have meter parking out front for 2hrs. The outside is sketchy. Homeless around arguing and trashed. Inside is very clean and well kept! However, I noticed a lot of older men inside. Be aware of your surroundings (just saying). They do have a designate area for kids and a few toys to keep them entertained. My child very much enjoyed themselves. (Also you need to be buzzed into the restrooms)

Got a great tip from my co-worker about this library where you can find a great selection of Japanese language books. Japanese (in 日本語) manga and books are not that easy to find in LA. The Bookoff in Gardena is a good place to find used books and manga for relatively cheap, but finding the Little Tokyo Branch Library was awesome. Not only is the library free (duh), but this library as a very good selection of Japanese book. I'm glad I found it. Additional plus is that since it is part of the LA Library system, you can return the books at separate libraries (which I may do from time to time since the Little Tokyo Branch Library is not my local one). Totally recommend IF you are looking for Japanese language books.

Great Japanese collection at this library in Little Tokyo. If you love manga or have an interest in all things Japanese, this is ground zero for you. For me, I perused the cookbooks and picked up a few. More than a few. Actually, as many as I could carry.

There were some security personnel on hand while I was there, which appeared necessary to deal with some "issues." All libraries are attractive places to hang out for some that don't have other places to hang out. Tough issue for all, but it seems like they are handling it humanely.

That being said, I highly recommend visiting the special collection here. And, you are right in the heart of Little Tokyo - with amazing restaurants, shops, galleries and the like. WIN WIN.

Went to pick up Bible concordance and Hebrew and Greek dictionary. Black t was met with very condescending Caucasian library worker quick to explain his resume as former pastor(red flags) and graduate of theology school who proceeds to explain that Hebrew for dummies was my best chance at grasping the language. My entire interest was simply to grab some literature to study with my own bible for research but as per my daily experience with ignorance I was met with bias and assumption. He then took it apon himself to or five of his personal choices and printed out for me choose from I selected from his list of my ignored suggestions and asked for a copy for my own records he said no just scratch off the top two and take this. To add injury to insult when I came to pick of the items ordered for me I was immediately asked if I was there to use the he bathroom. Obviously my siung regardless of my well kempt look it's assumed I can't possibly be there to read or take out books. Last straw lady who asked me did I need the bathroom walked away and another worker came to window. When I asked for books and placed love brary card on desk said lady returns suddenly she has to assist me. So I'm told Long story end I cancelled my card and decided to purchase the literature on my y own. I really feel sorry for today's America because the acceptance of bias and criminals navigation of complexion makes for a very week and vulnerable country against our enemies at large. SMH

I rode my fancy bicycle to downtown and didn't want to leave it locked up by the sidewalk. There's a bicycle rack inside where I can keep a closer eye on it. The Japanese book selection is huge at this library. There was a security guard inside so there's probably been problems with some not so friendly book worms in the past.

My first time at this library (Little Tokyo) in Los Angeles CA, certainly will not be my last. I had the pleasure of attending the Podcasting Class 101 which was taught by
(Diosa Femma)founder of @Locatora_Radio. It was very informative and interesting with lots of great info. I also met some fantastic people who I might see or actually meetup on my podcast.....

This is my favorite library which is why I volunteer at this branch. The people who make up the staff and patrons of this branch are caring, dedicated, quick to respond, friendly, nice, helpful. . .and always working together to get things done. I come here to borrow / pick up my books and see TEAMWORK! The folks here take their unique role of making a community space work for the community very seriously and you can feel it in their open smiles and faces. The senior librarian, Jim Sherod, is an incredible steward of this branch -- he has leapt through all the bcratic hoops necessary to get the library what it needs to be a great place. . .Services and and resources are constantly being upgraded through his and his team's vigilance.

      I LOVE YOU GUYS!!

This review is for the kids section- it is my favorite of all that we've visited in LA! They have so many good board books in a variety of languages for little kids, as well as the cutest floor cushions and seating. Lots of wooden and soft toys and puzzles, and they have felt boards too. It's so nice to have somewhere like this to bring my son for a change of pace and scenery. Very grateful for this respirce in our community.

I frequent this library since I live in the arts district. The librarians know me and are very kind and helpful. I usually order books or videos and have them sent to this library for pick up. I like that it is a small library, but yet there is a good variety of materials to browse and check out.
