We found this place thanks to Yelp and want to return the favor by leaving a review. The restaurant is fantastic! We don't speak French, but recognize enough food vocabulary words to navigate our way through the menu.

The owner is incredibly sweet and made my wife a hot tea/lemon/honey concoction for her sore throat (she asked for a cup of hot water and lemon and he hooked her up!). Neither he nor our waiter spoke very much English, but that is the type of experience we prefer when travelling.

The portions are laughably huge! We ordered off the pre-fixe 3 course menu - 1 of each course for each of us - and then realized at the end of the meal that we could have simply ordered a la carte from the same menu. Oh well!

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a good time and some adventure!

I don't remember how we ended up bookmarking this place, but we were lucky to get a same day reservation for dinner. It's super old school looking - red checkered table cloths, small room, no English menu, no American tourists - exactly what we were looking for.

The menu is a 3 course €32 euro meal - starter, main, and cheese or dessert. Wines by the bottle were also reasonably priced.

      To start:
      - Pate: huuuuge, good with the fruit jam and baguette
      - Gazpacho: light and refreshing, not like Spanish gazpacho per se, great with their frozen ball of chèvre for some richness.
      - Smoked herring: a ridiculously huge plate. Flavor was great, but we had a hard time finishing it

      Mains:
      - Steak tartare: 300 grams is a lot - it came with all the accompaniments and some more seasoning on the table (salt, pepper, Tabasco, mustard, Worcestire sauce). The beef was very fresh, and the flavor was great with onions, cornichons, egg yolk. It came with mashed potatoes and a mixed green salad, but I had a hard enough time eating just the beef part since it was so large. This dish was great
      - Fondue de Mont d'or: I'm excited it's the season for this cheese - I was a little disappointed since it's now a fondue, whereas old photos just had an entire container of mont d'or. It came with a giant sausage and mashed potatoes
      - Pork ribs: also huge

      Desserts:
      - Baba au rum: sweeter than I expected, but I like that you can pour as much of your own rum as you want
      - Cheese plate: 5 to choose from including reblechon, Camembert, etc. You serve yourselves, which I love

Service was friendly, nothing was rushed. Portions are huge! I'm glad we got to try a more authentic local hidden gem.

Owned and run by young hipster guys who are pretty cool. Food is in HUGE proportions but not necessarily the best French food you would find.

They have prix-fixe menus as usual for 31 EUR and they dont really advertise you can order a la carte. It was about 22 EUR-ish for a main dish, which is not expensive and in huge portions so it's hard to complain. I had their parmentier (mashed) with a weird meat mixture of pork and beef - it was good but unmemorable and unfinishable due to size. My bf and colleague had a burger each, which they said was passable. One or two beer on tap.

If you are looking for big portions of french food that are not too high quality but decent, there is where you would go.

While staying at the Le Meridien in Paris, a hotel employee recommended this restaurant as authentic French cuisine. He was correct! The staff was very friendly and accommodating as was the owner. The food was delicious and the portions huge! The owner was so nice and even gave us two free drinks of an apple whiskey which I mistook for a shot. Apparently you're supposed to sip it and after he was done laughing he kindly gave me another, this time to sip! A wonderful experience; we highly recommend checking it out!
