For the French Impressionists lover, this museum is the one to visit in the world. Gallery after gallery of Monets, Manets, Degas, Renoirs and more.
Even more amazing was the special Van Gogh (Auvers sur Oise) display that was on exhibition today.
There were landscapes, portraits and unexpected scenes that opened my eyes to Van Gogh's work.
The museum is spread on 5 levels but the main showcase of treasured pieces are on that top floor. To fully enjoy my visit, I had lunch in The Restaurant. It was a magnificent historic setting with chandeliers and a view out to the front of the museum. The food was okay and the menu had a good variety. Just for you to know: a visit to the MO isn't a quick stop.
After many hours indoors enjoying the art, I realized the time was also well spent avoiding the bitter cold outside. I finally exited the museum in the late afternoon to a light fall of snowflakes and feeling happy to have feasted on such beautiful art.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 9 janv. 2024
This converted train station is my favorite museum in Paris. The added benefit during our visit was the Van Gogh exhibit of his works painted in the last months of his life.
If you are a fan of the Impressionist's then this is your heaven.
But the real star is building itself. So open and voluminous.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Michael B.Irvine, États-Unis83526785253931 déc. 2023
SPECTACULAR BUILDING ! On Tuesday, Oct 3rd my wife I walked to the River Seine from our apartment in Rue Daguerre. When we arrived at around 1pm we saw this incredible museum building on the banks of the Seine. I'm sure it would have been amazing to see inside !
NOTE - Of course with 20 million views of my Yelp reviews and pics world wide in 2023 I can tell you what is great !Helpful 12Thanks 1Love this 8Oh no 0 - 17 avr. 2024
This was the best art museum in Paris hands down and twice on Tuesday. The art that was displayed was incredible. All of the greatest painters and sculptors were represented. You need to buy tickets in advance to make sure you are admitted. We went when there was a Van Gogh exhibit with hundreds of paintings. The only thing that displeased us was there was a fast pass for the line to see the Van Gogh and we saw nothing about this when we bought tickets. This museum is located right on the Seine and is easily walkable from pretty much everywhere or accessible by Metro.

D'Orsay
One of my favorite museums. A world renowned art Museum, which is housed in an old railway station, the Gare D'Orsay. It was originally built for the Paris world fair in 1900.
Housing artwork from the 19th and 20th centuries it is known for world, famous paintings by Monet, Renois, Degas, Van Gough and Cezanne. Collections of sculpture, photography, and decorative arts can be found in addition to the magnificent paintings.
Open Tuesday - Sunday 9:30- 6. I went on a Tuesday morning without advanced tickets and was able to get right inside.
There's a special Van Gogh exhibit at the museum until February 4, 2024. It is included with the ticket price. There is a line to get into the exhibit by it's worth the wait. 74 paintings and 33 drawings are included. One of the best displays of Van Gogh that I've seen.Helpful 10Thanks 4Love this 10Oh no 0 - 15 nov. 2023
The Orsay is excellent. In my opinion, there is better art to be found in the Orsay than many of the much more difficult to visit museums around Paris. It's best to get a ticket or Paris pass ahead of time and to show up early if you are able to - the crowd can get big and it's nice to be able to view everything.
If you have the Paris pass and a child with you, no special ticket is needed at this location - every museum appears to be different, so I advise you to check ahead and make sure before going. Some require you to stop by the ticket office and get a ticket for the child, even if you have the Paris pass (Napoleon's tomb for example).Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - 26 oct. 2023
Arrived around 9:45 on a Tuesday with a Museum Pass and no pre-booked timeslot (I don't believe it's available for this museum). There are multiple lines but if you have the MP, you will need line C1. The lines look daunting but luckily, it only took us about 15 minutes to get in.
I probably preferred this museum over the Louvre just because of the sheer size of the Louvre. The Musée d'Orsay is much more manageable. First, it's much less crowded but you just need to go early because it starts filling up after 11. It's also very well organized so if there is a certain artist or a certain era you'd like to focus on, it's easy to find. My favorite was of course Monet and looking at all the impressionist paintings. And I'm not even an art person but I found myself lingering around some of these paintings. We spent about two hours there and saw pretty much everything. We did breeze through some exhibits we were less interested in so I can see an art lover easily spending a half day to full day here.
Definitely worth a visit! Even if you don't have the MP.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 9702265728714 oct. 2023
Ohh the art!!!!
If you are looking for some of Vincent Van Goh's work, you are in the right place to find it. You can find his self portrait and Starry Night Over the Rhone. Definitely pretty cool seeing Starry Night, a piece that I learned about in school and have seen in movies.
The museum is stupid to navigate. We walked in circles confused how to go through the museum. Oh well. We saw Van Goh's work which was my priority.
Another architectural masterpiece!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - 14 déc. 2023
My favorite museum in Paris! We went specifically for a special exhibition of Van Gough's works during his last two years. Many consider this to be his most prolific period and the works were amazing. The Musee d'Orsay features an extensive collection of impressionist paintings and sculpture. The architecture of this former train station makes a marvelous art gallery. Plan on spending several hours or longer, there's so much to take in.

How can TWO of fhe world's best art museums be in one city and within walking distance of each other?
C'est Paris!!!
The vibe at Musée d'Orsay (M'O) is world class museum!
The collection of sculptures, ICONIC paintings, and art deco furniture, etc is AMAZING!
One advantage I like about the M'O over the Louvre was the straightforward floor plan! (I got turned around in the Louvre maze.)
(Keanu voiceover)
Yeah, you could say I'll be back for M'O.
Woohoo!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0
