Seeing the final home of Renoir and imagining him taking inspiration from these surroundings to continue painting was inspiring in itself
We learned that Mrs Renoir purchased the property after learning someone was trying to take it to cut down all the old growth olive trees to make napkin rings. Being so appalled she bought the grounds and the rest is history. Those same trees still stand today and they are magnificent
There were also lots of orange trees, a lovely garden, original Renoir paintings within the house, family photos, and a nice film featuring Jean Renoir talking about growing up on the estate, and a few with Renoir himself painting in his wheelchair and surrounded by friends. Doing what you love for your whole life is definitely something to which we should all aspire

This is my kind of museum. It's in the former house of Renoir, a beautiful estate that overlooks the ocean. I can imagine how amazing it would have been to live here over a hundred years ago. The museum is the right size. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to go through it and you don't feel like you're rushed, but you also don't feel like you've been there forever to see all the various paintings and sculptures. Very well done

This is the house where Auguste Renoir lived his last 12 years, from 1907 until 1919. You can find 15 of his paintings and 40 of his sculptures, visit the house, but above all feel the atmosphere of his life, walking in the wonderful garden where he painted several of his famous artworks. Take your time and relax in the garden!

The museum is the actual house that Renoir lived in at the end of his life. It is interesting to see the art that is displayed in his house and to see his workspace. There are a couple of his paintings and many of his sculptures on display, as well as some works by other artists.
However, I think the real draw for this place was the amazing grounds and views from the garden. With all of the trees surrounding the house it feels like you are stepping right into one of his paintings.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
