Paneolio

We were supposed to catch the train back to Paris but found out the night before that things had been cancelled due to the rail strikes. My friend spent hours on the phone rearranging flight, room accommodations and so forth and would have forgotten to eat if I hadn't suggested we get out of the apartment and go find something.

It was midnight and Paneolio was conveniently located a few steps from our apartment, so we got a couple slices of pizza and my initial thought was to take them to go but then the friendly gentleman behind the counter said... "and what to drink?"

A drink sounded like just the thing. So, I took his suggestion of gin and tonics his way and made with his favorite gin, Monkey 47 - Schwarzwald dry gin, from Germany... which I had never heard of before.

I watched as he burnt a rosemary sprig and tucked it under the glasses until they filled with smoke, then he turned them over and mixed the gin and some Fever Tree tonic.

It was all delicious and just what we needed after a stressful evening.

Good value for an aperitif / aperitivo after work. You pay 6 euros for a drink and he buffet of snacks (some of which you can see in my pictures)

We chose wine (I had sparkling, hubby had red) and both were nice and in huge portions!

You go up to the bar to serve yourself from the focaccia (which I loved), spinach pesto on bread, pizza and sausage rolls. But then they also come by with pizza slices fresh out of the oven!

All in all a very good deal for after work :) and a bonus point for the old school hip hop that was playing :)

Looking for something quick and delicious, had the pasta and it exceeded your expectations, light, tasty and el dente, every one around us was eating pizza and it looked delicious.
