Rice to Riches is an absolute gem! From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was in for a treat. The ambiance is incredibly inviting, and the background music sets the perfect tone. After hearing about their tantalizing tapioca creations, I couldn't resist making my way to the Riches section.
I opted for the Epic bowl with two different tapioca options: butterscotch and coastal coast cheesecake with mixed nut topping. Let me tell you, it was a flavor explosion! Each spoonful was a delightful journey for my taste buds, hitting just the right spot of my sweet tooth. The two people that work here were very nice and let me tasted some of the tapioca pudding flavors.
If you're craving some gelatin rice pudding or just looking for a unique and delicious dessert experience, I highly recommend giving Rice to Riches a try. You won't be disappointed!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 326841146113 avr. 20242 check-ins
I had the most incredible rice pudding on a recent trip to Dubai, so I've been hitting all the rice pudding shops in NYC to see if I could recreate that taste again. I have long known about Rice to Riches (and its money laundering rumors) but wow was I impressed by the sheer selection and delicious taste of their rice pudding. It veers a little towards the creamy side, which I prefer and I love how rich the flavors are, without tasting artificial or overpowering. My favorite flavors so far include the panna cotta, the butterscotch, and the mascarpone-- they are all delightfully indulgent.
The shop itself is quite futuristic, which is a statement considering how long this location has been open for. There are some tables and booths available but a majority of people tend to take their treats to-go. Honestly, I'm almost thankful for the steep $10+ price tag because I would certainly balloon into a puffy grain of rice if I ate here more often.
Rice to Riches definitely tops my current list of rice puddings I've tried around the city so far and while it is not Dubai-worthy, it is certainly the closest I've gotten.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 10 avr. 2024
I am a rice pudding fiend, but imo rice pudding does not need to be bougi-fied. At the end of the day, it tastes like slightly creamier Kozyshack rice pudding. Man-made marscapone was my favorite--the cherries are everything.
Overall, a fun place to try out, especially if you share an ultimate ($12), but the portion sizes are TOO much for a casual dessert. The store decor is hilarious, so come for the rice pudding and stay for the skinny-shaming.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 13 avr. 20241 check-in

This is certainly a very interesting place... but first of all, I have to say the rice puddings are delicious (it is their specialty after all). They offer many different flavors and I got the raspberry and mascarpone with cherries flavors. The raspberry had a fresh real raspberry flavor and the mascarpone was super tasty as well. Both were not overly sweet or too heavy. They were a nice creamy consistency. For $10.75, I was able to get the "epic" size with these two flavors, which was certainly more than one person's portion size worth, so good value. As a bonus, the plastic containers they provide (with a lid) are actually quite high quality and can definitely be washed and re-used later.
As for the more interesting aspects, I'm not sure if the design of the place is meant to be very old-school or very futuristic, but it is certainly different, with elliptical / round shapes all around, neon lights, and most prominently, many many humorous and interesting sayings / phrases all over the place. Certainly keeps you entertained as you look around.
Yeah, there might have been a bit of a scandal surrounding this place in years past (will let you do your own Google searches on that), but hey, the rice puddings at least are great!
Overall, if you are looking for something unique and out of the ordinary for dessert, then Rice to Riches is sure to satisfy your tastebuds while providing plenty of entertainment along the way.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - 10 mars 20241 check-in
I love rice pudding so was very excited to try this! Some friends and I split the $15 option where you get three flavors. The rice was thicker than I expected, not as liquidy as rice pudding I've had in the best. So be prepared for a different texture.
Hazelnut/chocolate flavor: very very rich. Would have been too much to eat on its own
Mascarpone: very light flavor, not super sweet, cherries in it as well
Butterscotch: my favorite! Had the best flavor and bad the right amount of sweetness
Expensive but delicious! Very cutely decorated inside with hilarious signs.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 25 févr. 20241 check-in
A group of us stopped by here after having a great dinner in the area. I'd never been but the concept seemed fascinating to me. This place only serves rice pudding...many, many different varieties of rice pudding. I've never been a big rice pudding fan but my husband is, so I decided to get some to bring back home.
Unsurprisingly, the place was packed on a late Saturday night, amidst a bustling lower Manhattan. The staff was super patient with everyone and genuinely excited to let us try a lot of the flavors. They were very nice to allow me to taste many flavors, as I'm particular, and have never been. The sign on the counter says you can only try 3 flavors but they let me try a few more. I really wanted to make sure to get exactly what I wanted, and with flavors like, The Edge Of Rum Raisin, Coast To Coast Cheesecake, and Hazelnut Chocolate Bear Hug, you can only imagine how difficult it was to make a choice. The one downside is that I wish they had more toppings.
In the end, I went with half and half, I Gotta The Panna Cotta and Coast To Coast Cheesecake. They both tasted really good and I know hubby will love them.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 9 avr. 20241 check-in
Had to check this place out after seeing it in the movie, Hitch. The atmosphere and the flavors will leave an impression. Very generous in servings, but it can be addicting to finish it in one sitting like I did.

HELL YES, I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! I love that such an amazing & delicious dessert place even exists! All of their flavors are excellent. I've been coming here for 5 years now. Fairly priced & lines move fast. You'll love the wacky & hilarious signs throughout the shop.

I had just finished dinner with a few of my Yelp friends visiting from Houston when we we decided to grab some dessert. I had never been to Rice to Riches before, but it was just down the block and since it was a place I had never been to before, it seemed like a great place to finish the evening. The concept of a rice pudding bar was intriguing, so I was looking forward to checking it out.
I feel like R2R is deep-seeded in my memory for some reason. I don't know why, I think perhaps years ago someone mentioned a rice pudding bar in Manhattan - whatever the reason as we approached I had this weird sense of familiarity with it despite never being here before. It wasn't crowded when we arrived, and the interior was pretty spacious with the ordering counter to the right and some seats to the left. The decor was interesting - it was colorful with a lot of witty sayings hung around the space alluding to the high caloric content of their offerings. It was kinda fun, but I'm not a fan of indulgent places particularly reminding me that I'm eating something unhealthy. The entire place gives off a corporate/chain feel even though it isn't.
The ordering counter had several flavors of rice pudding, as well as a selection of toppings and suggested flavor combos. You were able to purchase a few different sizes as well as containers that could hold multiple flavors; they also allow up to 3 free samples if you're conflicted with what to order. The gingerbread stood out to me the most, so I went with that and topped it with graham cracker crumbs. The pudding had good consistency and just the right amount of gingerbread flavor, and the graham crackers added a welcome texture to break through the relative softness of the pudding.
Service was good, everyone we interacted with was friendly and were happy to help. Despite this, why does R2R only land at a 3 for me? Well, while I like rice pudding, I don't love it - and I think that the portions for an individual are too big. The whole concept also seems too novelty for me, and combined with the somewhat kitsch aesthetics make it a once-and-done place for me. That being said, I applaud them for making rice pudding fun - and if circumstances found me here again I wouldn't be disappointed.Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0
