A solid 3.5.....maybe a 4 because of the service, charm and history.

Outside seating is the way to go. Kitschy, checkered, synthetic table cloths. Spacious seating which can accommodate larger groups. Menu has plenty of choices inclusive of fish, pork, veal focusing on Alsatian specialties.

I chose the breaded veal accompanied by fries and a salad Honestly I've had much better veal at Bavaria house in Silicon Valley (or the now-closed Tyrolean Inn in Ben Lomond) . The meat was tough..and undoubtfully not even veal but a cheaper cut. The favor was good though, perfectly deep fried and with a delicious accompaniment of a cheese cream sauce...pour to taste. Overall, the dish was good ...just probably not veal. I finished most of it....so that's the final proof!

I followed up with some dessert, an apple strudel which was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a large dollop of whipped cream. I couldn't finish it, but it was delicious.

Service, as I have gotten accustomed in France: efficient, polite, professional, and everything timed perfectly.

The place is just a casual place with decent food. I lingered at my table for almost three hours and it was just fun to eat, sip some wine, and people watch. No staff hovering about ...but definitely attentive and available when needed. Can we please get this in the USA???

We enjoyed the meal and the nice Alsace Riesling. The onion tarte was very tasty. The snails average. Highly recommended is the Cordon bleu. 19 Euro seems to be fair priced. It was freshly made and huge. The onion tarte with 6,90 a good deal.
The location is nice although the area is very touristic. Drinks took quite a while so order ahead.
The service was hard working but sometimes overwhelmed by the workload. For instance to get an ashtray did not work out at all. We asked five times but no chance so we rook the big one. Sitting outside was nice an pleasant ; the chairs were excellent - what really matters for me.
The tarte Flambee (Flammkuchen) was looking very nice and the other guests loved it.
Bohrer Riesling for 29 a bottle is very fair.
