Sindo features Japanese-inspired dishes and has been open since 2002. The current chef is Mr. De Lin.
This is a review for takeaway. We ordered over the phone as there does not seem to be any online option. The food was ready when we arrived at the scheduled time.
It was very busy with locals picking up and seems to be a popular neighborhood spot. The decor inside was nice, cozy, and elegant, and I'm not sure why some of the other reviews say the inside is dingy.
Overall the food was good and in some cases is prepared in more of a Chinese style. If you have tried these dishes in Japan, manage your expectations.
Yakitori - very good, really nice quality of chicken. My favorite of it all and highly recommended. It was like in Japan.
Unadon - good and recommended when wishing for unadon but remember you are not in Japan. The miso soup it came with was also good.
Tempura udon - good and recommended. The tempura was prepared in more of a Chinese style.
Okonomiyaki - not really Okonomiyaki and more of a Chinese pancake.
Nigiri sushi - good tamago and inari.
Agedashidofu - haven't had it like this before but it was ok.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amanda Z.Haarlem, Pays-Bas2432139 déc. 2013
I love fish, so I decided to go for sushi.
This restaurant is small, but it looks allright.
Not the most comfortable seats, but with the Japanese friendliness.
There is enough to choose from. I got one of the 'boxes'; that's a variety of sushi/sashimi in combination with misosoup. I decided however to try the cocossoup. This was all very delicious and definitely enough for dinner.
They have a lunchmenu as well and there is a possibility for take away.
If you don't like fish you could go for another Japanese option. Lots of choises in the warm dishes on the menu.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Thomas K.Loughborough, Royaume-Uni6425 nov. 2014
Brilliant food served in a dingy, but friendly place
Alright, bad things first: If you are looking for a stylish Japanese restaurant with neon lights and handsome hipsters all around: Go to New York City. This is Hannover and the atmosphere is of a dingy sou-terrain pub with at least no smoking. I rate the atmosphere as a 1.9/5.0 (nobody gets a 5.0 from me for anything).
But, you came here for food, I suppose, then you have outstanding value for money: Fresh sashimi and sushi dishes of all kind, most Japanese restaurants in Sou Cal cannot compete with. Avoid the urchin, though, not worth it @€8 a pair. But, well, if you have ever stepped onto an urchin it's still very much worth it. Altogether a 4.7.
Service is friendly and competent, the language barrier might kick in, unless you speak some Chinese (sic) languages, but that only adds to the fun. 4.3.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ulrike S.Saint Paul, États-Unis0217 nov. 2016
Went there for the first time. It is an ok japanese restaurant. Pro: The bento boxes are quite substantial and priced appropriately. Overall decent food and we would come back. Con: the edamame were overcooked and a bit tasteless

This is our favourite sushi restaurant in Hannover. Delicious sushi and sashimi dishes. The location is not that nice (basement). So you will get a table even at prime time. Friendly service. Medium to low price range.
