As Sweet as it gets
A refreshing dessert awaits you after a funful beach day at Frostcity. Snow ice will make your day. Sweet and delightful. There are a variety of flavors....watermelon, haupia and chocolate, lychee, blueberry, green tea, red and white, azuki, and many more. My favorite so far is the watermelon. I LOVE the cute star-shaped jelly and jelly balls on the side. It's SOOOOO pretty.
Now another dessert you should try is the sesame mochi balls. It's a sweet hot dessert that's perfect for our Hawaii breezy nights. :) I tried it tonight with this sugar sesame soup. (I hope that I got that right) If you like mochi, you should try this.
Once you enter Frostcity, you get this welcoming feeling. Smiley faces greets you. The decor is simple with bright spring color walls. Add Frostcity to your list to places to try. Trust me, you'll enjoy it.
KEY LIME DELICIOUS. *Cheers* to the bakers of Let Them Eat Cupcakes. 8:00am, I was probably the first customer today. I walked over to the shop just to grab their special today, Key Lime Cupcakes.
It was absolutely tasty. A Nila wafer cookie surprise sitting on the bottom of the lemony lime cake. The fluffy vanilla frosting was hugged by cookie crumbs of love. I have to say, you have done it. I'm in love. Key Lime Cupcake is my favorite. And it looked sooo handsome in green.LET ME EAT CUPCAKES. If I could eat one cupcake a day, it'll be a fine day. Nothing could get me… En savoir plus
I love New York Chinatown. Soo many things to look at and soo many stores to stop over. Vivi Bubble Tea was recommended by a cashier at a store. I have to admit, it was a great recommendation.
How did we figure out that we got to the right bubble tea shop? Well, when we saw the long line, we knew. Vivi Bubble Tea decor was cutesy and fun. Love it. The staff was welcoming and nice. Service was quick and efficient.
We went on a good day. They were making takoyaki balls right outside their store. While waiting in line, we got suckered into buying a box of 6. Hey, it was a good choice because it was delish. We also got a free green tea with bubbles. I also ordered a green apple tea with mixed jelly. My intent was to try their milk tea but I ended up trying something new. Green apple tea was yummy. The jelly was fresh, cool, and sweet. I love it. If I ever get a chance to visit New York again, I'm going back to Vivi Bubble Tea. 2-thumbs up.
Dear For The Love of Coffee,
Thank you for remembering my drink. I guess I could be labeled as a frequent customer or Regular Iced Thai. I'm always impressed when any coffee place remembers a customer's drink. It's pretty amazing. Today was the first day you remembered my drink, but I asked for another one. I'm sorry. I'm just trying to keep you on your toes. :) The Mocha Thai that you introduced me to was delish. Thank you! It started my morning with a wake up kick. I have a sweet tooth so Mocha and Thai mixed with some coffee, just perfect. Now, I'll be either a Regular Iced Thai or a Regular Iced Mocha Thai. I'll see you soon.
Maybe it was the flavors of ice cream that we chose, maybe I just needed some sweet, maybe they just have delicious ice cream. My sister decided to take us to Handel's Homemade Ice Cream and Yogurt after our noodle lunch. One of the best decisions she's made in this trip. Hahaha....just joking.
We tried a four scoop sampler with orange cream dream, thin mint, s'mores, and their famous banana cream pie. All four flavors were amazing. The orange cream dream was creamy and orangy, the thin mint reminded me of the girls scout cookies, the s'mores flavor took me back to camp in fifth grade, and the banana cream pie had a sweet banana taste with fluffy light cream. Even though it was pretty cold for ice cream that day (hey! we're from Hawaii), it was the best time for ice cream. If you are ever in Redondo Beach, California, make a trip down to Handel's Homemade Ice Cream and Yogurt.
This place doesn't need my FIVE stars. It is already a popular place with the community. It's another hot spot to hang out with your friends.
The main reason I go there if I ever get motivated to travel that side is the one and only, LEMON CRUNCH CAKE. *hmmmmm* It's my favorite cake. It's a lemon cake sprinkled with toffee crunch. It is absolutely FABULOUS. The second reason, is the PUMPKIN CRUNCH. OMG, delicious. I know I might sound like a crazy dessert addict, so don't judge me. I love SWEETS. If you ever get a chance, try their desserts, especially the lemon crunch cake. You won't regret it. :)
So we were walking down Chinatown trying to find this famous bubble tea joint, when we saw this sign that read, "The First Chinatown Ice Cream Factory." Well, who wouldn't try ice cream from the very first Chinatwon ice cream factory. The place was pretty packed and happening.
My daughter is still young and the only two flavors she knows for ice cream is Chocolate and Strawberry. I ordered a strawberry sugar cone to try with her. It was delicious. Very creamy and a blast of cool strawberry taste. My friend ordered black seaseme flavor ice cream. I had a tiny spoonful and it reminded me of black seaseme jin dui from Chinese New Year. It hit the taste buds.
If you every venture to Chinatown, look for the GIGANTIC sign that reads "The First Chinatown Ice Cream Factory."
P.S. Service was excellent.
Oh, my gosh. This is one of the best ice cream place I've ever tried so far. My friend told me that I had to try this ice cream place and she was right, ice cream there was sugarlicious. Yum!
Of course, I couldn't taste all the flavors. I did get to try three flavors. My daughter isn't all that adventurous just yet, so she got the double fold vanilla bean. That was really bold...I could taste the vanilla bean. And I was the brave one. I tried the pear with blue cheese. Yup, blue cheese ice cream with sweet pear chunks. It was very blue cheesy ice cream but the pears was paired well into the saltiness. Really tasty. I also got to try the cheese apple pie. Wowee...it was delicious. It was just like eating an apple pie. It's just colder and in rhe form of an ice cream.
Salt and straw is a definitely an ice cream place you got to check out when you're visiting Portland. Be brave and try the savory ice creams they offer. Like any ice cream shop, you can taste the flavors before you make your decision.
$5 for this small slice of strawberry shortcake. You have got to be kidding me. I can't believe that desserts are sooo expensive. You know what, though? It was well worth with $5 for a Strawberry shortcake and a Strawberry Roll. It was out-this-world amazing.
The cakes were fluffy and sweet. Just sweet enough that hits the spot. The strawberries on the shortcake was NOT tart. When the strawberries are tart on the cake, it's just brings the dessert down hill. At La Palme, the cakes are absolutely delightful.
I really really wish there was a Chinese bakery like this here in Oahu. They had an assortment of cakes and breads and tarts and pies. Yum! I'm a dessert fan. My heart beats for sweets.
There were sooo many cakes set up on display. It's always good to see what you could order rather then flipping through an album. I wish I could I bought a slice of a cake, a fruit tart, pineapple buns, egg tarts, and some lemon rolls to taste, but I held back. I was being realistic. I only tried their mixed fruit tart which was amazing. Light and fruity. I enjoyed every single last bite of it.
Tai Pan Bakery was packed and the line was almost out the door. I was there for 15 minutes and I almost lost my friends in the crowd. The staff was calling out to help customers. Everyone in there was buying something. If I didn't have plans to eat dinner soon, I would've bought a box of goodies to eat at the hotel, all by myself. :)
Pineapple Cream and Chocolate Macadamia Nut is the MUST-TRY flavors. The Pineapple Cream is a soft, sweet, creamy ice cream delight. It's not a powerful pineapple burst. It's just right for my pineapple taste. The Macadamia Nut is delish. The macadamia nut was fresh, not stale. The chocolate ice cream was very rich. It was very much enjoyable after a hot udon lunch.
Tropical Dreams had a wide selection of ice cream and sorbert which included mango cream, chocolate, kona coffee, guava sorbert, pineapple coconut sorbert, mint cookies and cream chocolate, and macadamia nut. It's fairly decent in price. It was $3.25 for a single scoop. A single scoop of ice cream fun.
I'm glad I'm a frequent Chinatown explorer. I found this tiny gem that sells snacks and bubble teas, Hula Boba. This place has milk tea, flavored bubble teas, and even snow ice. Haven't tried their snow ice, but the pictures look really yummy.
My favorite drinks are the Milk Tea and Thai Iced Tea. It's their thai iced tea that brings me back to this store over and over again. Milk tea pretty darn good, too. Hula Boba even used the machine to seal the drink. You might think I'm crazy but it's kinda fun watching the machine seal the cups after the drink is made. Whenever I'm in Chinatown doing some grocery shopping on the weekend, I visit Hula Boba. The owner is way, way nice and smiley unlike the ones you know at Coffee or Tea. :)
Creme Brulee cupcake, that was magnificent. Cupcakes are one of my favorite sweets and Creme Brulee is the next one. I got the best of both worlds. I came all the way from Hawaii to try Molly's Cupcakes and it was well worth the 2.8 miles walk from our previous food destination in NYC.
Every single bite was pure divine. The cake was moist and filled with an explosion of flavor. Too bad I could only try one of the cupcakes. I wanted to try the pumpkin spice and the apple cobbler, but my stomach would not have made it to the Yankee game that day and might have to be rolled out of the shop. Even my daughter who is not a huge cupcake fan, unlike mom, enjoyed her mini cupcake. Definitely a place to go if you're a cupcake lover.
Eggettes, I'm in love with you. My heart calls for you when I'm in San Francisco. There's no other place for me to get my fill of eggettes.
Which flavor eggettes do I love? All of them. Chocolate, Original, and Honeydew. This place even sell curry fishballs - another one of my favorite street food. Milk tea is to my standard, the best. The lychee milk tea is by far my favorite. I've been to places with eggettes but this place is the best.
One, two, three cake donuts at a time. Yes, I am the little piggy. And I'm not ashamed to say it out loud. There's not a lot of good donuts around in Hawaii. Regal Bakery has my favorite cake donuts. I'm not a big fan of yeast donuts.
On an early Saturday morning when I needed to meet up with my friend, I made a donut run. Yes, a well-deserved donut run. Of course, this townie had missed the turn on Nimitz went for an airport visit. So three donuts, I deserved it. :) I bought eight donuts: strawberry sprinkles, double choco, chocolate sprinkles, creme brulee, cinnamon sugar, green tea, and their special snicka something. Oh, my. They were all sooo good-looking. I wanted them all. We were smart, we cut them in halves and quarters and tried each of them. I tried halves of everyone so my total, three. The best one was the snicka special. It had nuts, chocolate and caramel drizzle, and it was finger licking delightful.
If you haven't tried Regal Bakery, you've got to try them. In Hawaii, they have the most amazing cake donuts. SOOOOOOO good!!!
Caf-enity, cafe-nity, ca-fe-ni-ty... I don't know why, but I get so tongue twisted when I say Cafenity. It's too fancy of a name for my tongue. :)
I must admit, when Cafenity first opened, I was a bit bitter. I missed the last coffee place that was there, For The Love of Coffee. I mean, I didn't know what to expect from Cafenity. I tried their thai coffee and meh, it was aight. I just not impressed. I just needed some time to cope with my feelings for For The Love of Coffee.
After a few months, I came back to try their iced tea and I'm in love. Yes, I'm in L-O-V-E, love. I saw everyone in Downtown with a refreshing cup of iced tea and I had to ask them where they got it and their response....Cafenity. So when I tried their special that day, Strawberry Black Tea, it was absolutely delightful. On this hot, May Thursday, Cafenity's iced tea quenched my thirst. I was addicted. The next day, I went down to grab another ice tea, apricot green tea this time. Since it was lunch time, I got their creamy potato soup - VERY VERY delicious and yes, a slice of their cheesecake. It was the best lunch that week. Yes, I will be back soon. I am determined to untie my tongue with the fancy name.08/06/2013 Thank you! Please try our blended tea lemonades. In Hawaii, BEST MILK TEA joint. I wish, I wish I lived a little closer, like walking distance. Instead of Starbucks everyday, I would go to Taste Tea everyday. I love them. When I saw this place on Yelp, I was sooo excited. I felt like Agnes from Despicable Me when she saw the unicorn at the fair. Eyes all wide and twinkling.
I haven't tried any other drinks. I'm a milk tea lover. Taste Tea makes your tea with your sweetness level. I usually order mine at 70% sweetness. I've tried their coffee jelly with my milk tea....yup, that's good. I've tried the milk tea with custard....yup, that's good. I've tried the milk tea with their mini, tiny boba.....yup, that's good. What can I say, it's all good.26/07/2013 "It's so fluffy I'm gonna die!" Thank you so much for visiting Taste Tea! We are more than happy to… En savoir plus
Yes, I am. I am a fan. The first time I had their cheesecake was at our goodbye party for one of my coworker. She was heading back home and she mentioned that she loved the death by chocolate and mango cheesecake from Cake Envy and so we bought one.
It was the most delightful cake ever. It was light and fluffy. I've only had really heavy cheesecake cake and so when I tasted cheesecake from Cake Envy, I fell in love. I fell hard. I've been to this location at least 3 times and every time, I've enjoyed all of the slices. I've tried their creme brulee (my favorite), death by chocolate, mango, cherry supreme, heath bar, and another chocolate one. Yup, I'm in big trouble. This place is just too close to me. It's hard to resist.
I admit it. I get lost almost 9 out of the 10 times I go to Nisshodo. I swear they move their shop every time and that's why I can't find it. :)
I only venture out to Nisshodo for their chichi dango. They have the best. I haven't had a chance to try anything else yet but I would like to one of these days. Their chichi dango are sweet and delightful, I'm not sure whether I would like to try anything else. And a pound of chichi dango is only $6.50. That's a great price. I could probably eat a pound all by myself. :)
First visit and I'm a total fan. A Fabulous Fun Fan. A Fantastically Forever Fan. Woohoo! Alright that's enough of me being a fan. :)
On this sunny, breezy Spring Break Friday, I decided to check out Via Gelato. I got lucky and found a stall right in front of the place. And I do want to let everyone know, the metered stalls are only 1 hour so don't feed the hungry meter more than an hour, it will just eat your money and leave you feeling stupid. hahaha... I didn't read the sign.
I've only ever heard of the place and finally got around to making the trip. I wish I could taste all the flavors they had today but I couldn't. If I did, my tummy would not have room for my guava sorbet keiki cone. I tried the Li Hing Shiso sorbet and it was eye-widening goodness. To me, a taste sample of the li hing shiso sorbet was the just the right amount. It might be a little too rich for my liking for a gelato. I like the lighter flavors when it comes to eating gelato. That's why I chose you, Guava. The guava sorbet was refreshing and sweet and light. It was not tart at all and it was the perfect color of summer pink. Yeah, I just made up the color. :) My daughter ordered the cookies and cream. That's the only flavor that she's interested in trying at ice cream places and yogurt places and now, gelato places. She was happy though, she found a big chunk of oreo in your serving. The cones delicious too. I could probably just eat the cones on its own. It was crispy and sweet. Just thinking about my sorbet is making my belly sing the gelato song.
Well, as Arnold would say, "I'll be back."
