Best Happy Hour
Hara sushi has become my favorite sushi place in Los Angeles. I found this place driving by it after it opened somewhat recently. I consider myself someone who knows excellent sushi, so that being said here is my review.
Hara Sushi is located on Wilshire, a little west of Bundy. I have eaten there about 15-20 times already since discovering it about 4 months ago. The main reason I go there now is their AMAZING happy hour prices. Happy hour goes from about 4pm to 9:30pm, so no need to rush eating.
The food quality is great. It is almost as good as super expensive places where you will end up spending $75/person but for the price it can't be beat. I have no complaints about the quality. I tend to eat a lot and portion sizes is important to me, and I get full on $10-15 bucks.
The quantity is one of my favorite parts about this place. They give you SO much food I dont know how they stay in business for the prices they charge. For normal rolls like spicy tuny or yellowtail, you get 6-8 pieces (not little dinky pieces) of sushi for $3-5, which are crazy prices!! For specialty rolls, they range from $6-$10. These rolls are meals in themselves. You can get full on a single specialty roll. At any other sushi joint, these special rolls will cost $15+ and probably won't be as much food.
Beer/sake prices are also. $3.50 for large sopporo (sp?). During happy hour, they give FREE miso soup, edemame, AND green tea icecream.
I HIGHLY recommend this place. Try to get there before 6:30pm or you will most likely be waiting 10+ minutes. I've seen waits as long as 45+ minutes after 8 or 9pm. Great sushi, great quantity, and great prices make this my current favorite sushi joint. The only complaint I have is service, which is sometimes lacking. However I give them a pass on this because they are new and it gets crazy busy there. If they improved service, I would give them 5 stars.
