The Midwest is finally starting to catch onto to the whole craft beer craze and until recently Brooklyn Brewery beers were unavailable in Minnesota. Being a fan of their brews my buddy and I decided to check out the brewery on a recent trip to NYC. Tour times are listed on their website along with other general information.
The tour itself was really informative and a great way to learn about the history of the brewery and its founders. You don't really get to walk around the entire brewery but the areas they show you are adequate to get an understanding of how the brewing process works.
They also serve beer on tap which is purchased using tokens you can buy out of a vending machine or from the desk at the front. One token costs $5 or you can buy 5 for $20 (much better option), and one token equals one beer although I noticed they had one brew which required two tokens. I'm not entirely sure that they serve food here but noticed that there were a lot of people eating pizzas which they must have purchased and brought into the brewery.
The combination of pizza smells, endless talk of brunch from the people near us and the fact that my buddy and I had consumed 10 beers each were enough to make us call a quits and leave in search of food. All in all, the BB is definitely worth visiting if you're ever in Williamsburg.
A friend and I recently stopped in here to grab some iced coffees as well as some whoopie pies after working up an appetite from walking all over Brooklyn. I didn't intend on ordering anything to eat but the smells of all the delicious baked goods convinced me to get a pumpkin and chocolate whoopie pie. Ordering was relatively easy and paying with my credit card through their iPad was awesome since I was low on cash.
My coffee drink tasted awesome and I can always appreciate a place that uses ice cubes made out of coffee so that your drink doesn't become diluted. Both whoppie pies were excellent and had a nice spongy consistency when you bit into them.
The service here was super friendly and even offered my friend and I great advice on how to get around Brooklyn faster.
Cool designs and friendly customer service are always a winning combination in my book. This store is bright and open with a decent selection of menswear as well as a respectable clearance section in the back. Pricing for their clothing is a little on the higher side but everything I've ever bought from BI has lasted through multiple washes. One thing to note, if you are interested in buying their Brooklyn Brewing branded clothing just buy the same items at the brewery as they are cheaper there.
