No Next Time
Have been hearing some great reviews about this place so finally this weekend decided to make it to KK for an early dinner.
The restaurant was reasonably packed for a Sunday evening and although I badly wanted to sit outside and enjoy the last few weeks of outdoor seating in the restaurant, we ended up getting a table indoors as iall the tables were taken.
Service was prompt and they brought in the papad with the assortment of chutneys and menus right away.
We ordered beer and mango lassi to start with. The menu is very Meh for vegetarians and we ended up getting Samosas and Kabab Platter. The appetizers took over 20 minutes and I was dying with hunger. The samosas more than made up for the wait. They were insanely good.Infact the best I have eaten in the longest time. The lassis were not as thick and seemed to be too watered down. The kabab platter was terribly dry and we literally choked on them and we did the worst thing a guest could do" Send it back".We felt terrible about it but it was way to overcooked and dry to even swallow down.We ordered another round of Samosas. They were freaking huge but so much flavor, so much filling it could be your complete meal.
For mains we ordered the saag paneer and the vegetable biryani.Their portions are huge. The saag paneer came with daal and jeera rice.Saag was great although not as many pieces of paneer as I would like..The biryani was very average and although had a lot of nuts and raisins lacked the flavor and the depth of a biryani.Nor were there enough vegetables. The food is very heavy somehow and we had to pack most of it to take home.We ordered a round of Malai and Pista Kulfi and that was the probably the worst kulfi of my life.It was all ice and the pista kulfi was literally bitter and had lot of cardamon pods.Totally disgusting.
I casually mentioned to my husband that next time maybe I would like to try their cocktails,so he laughed and said.." I dont think there will be a next time"
Ups:- Service, Ambiance,Samosas
Sometime we just dont learn do we?
I picked up a slice of banana bread as I was craving some sugar.I got back to my office and cut this up in small pieces to share with my colleagues and it was dry and hard like a rock. Not only that, it also had a stale oil/butter smell.
Since I was not having it all myself it was gone in no time.
I couldn't stop myself and called the restaurant to let them know. The cashier who answered the phone said OK Thanks and I will let the manager know and before I could say anything she was gone .I couldn't help but stare at the handset in disbelief that she had actually hung up on me.It saddens me to write this review today.Anybody who knows me knows of my obsession with B&T's… En savoir plusVery conveniently located in the heart of diamond district and is a great lunch spot for a quick… En savoir plusTheir pizza guy is the best and they make some mean eggplant parmesan pizzas and sandwiches..their… En savoir plus
This place had been bookmarked all summer and yet I never remembered to take my daughter there. One day while browsing through the events calender of Mommy Poppins (I love this website for checking out events for kids in the city), I came across free entrance on Fridays for the Children's Museum.Yayyyy..Good saving of over $30+ atleast. The only catch is that the free admission is valid from 5-8 pm only .
We got there around 5.30 on Friday evening.Getting in was breeze and didn't seem as crowded at first. As soon we hit the floors, there was a huge swarm of kids and adults. We could barely see whats going on.One floor had the so called mind games etc etc and some craft activities going on.My daughter seem kinda excited at first seeing so many kids and so much fun stuff to do.But considering there were so many people , it was almost impossible for her to get turns on pretty much anything.Unless your kid is good at hustling and pushing there is no chance they would get their hands on anything.I obviously preferred the latter and we headed out to the next level/
Once which was the Dora and Diego exhibit.Again nothing too impressive and there is not a staff in sight if at all you need them for anything. She hung around there for sometime trying to explore whatever she could, but the sheer crowd and the chaos kinda was getting on to her too.
We must have spent about less than 25 minutes on each level and the although its not really uninteresting, they could just do a better job at having some more educational and fun stuff for kids.Maybe on a day where its not so crowded , it could be more fun and appealing. But I would definitely not recommend to anybody who is not so fond of being pushed around in crowds of running and shouting parents, a trip to the Children's Museum on the Free Fridays. But somehow the $15 price tag for adults and $11 for kids demand much more out of this place. Also totally skip this place if your kids are older than 5.
Everything looks delish. We tried the Green Tea Matcha Roll for $6 and it was great and it was not overly sweet and had a soft spongy texture. We also got 6 macaroons in all different flavors on my daughters insistence and they were overly dry and at 2.50 a piece, $15 went down the drain. They have ample seating space and tons of breads to choose from.
While we were checking out my daughter said thank you to the cashier and she didn't respond.I thought maybe she didn't hear her. After we were done, as habituated gesture we said thank you and she barely gave a nod of acknowledgement and her face was devoid of any smile/warmth.
I will probably stop by again if I am around to get the Green Tea Roll but atleast I will know better not to bother with my manners when I talk to them.19/12/2014 Every customer, whether they had an amazing experience with us or not, should be treated in a… En savoir plus
this mall is very dated.I am glad they are going through the much needed renovations.I heard its going to take them 4-5 months to complete the project. The Macys here is defintely over priced.I bought some blouses from here and the week after I happened to be in Manhattan Macys the the price difference was huge.Luckliy I had the receipts in my bags and got them price adjusted.I dont think I would bother going to the Macys here after that incident.Overall a very average mall.
Place was apparently closed down and wonder of wonders same menu, same staff same decor, everything same except the name opened up in less than few weeks
Not sure what these guys are upto..I wasnt a big fan of this place earlier and given that nothing has changed besides the name, I doubt I will be trying them again except maybe for samosas..maybe..Food is average but their customer service sucks big time..The owner is probably not aware how his… En savoir plus
Loved the concept, loved the food, loved the ambience. So then why two stars..Their service sucks big time.I was passing by this place and I am a sucker for falafels and could not resist their sign where its says " Always baked".
I walked in and since I was new to the place and their concept I must have probably taken over 5 minutes to browse through their menu boards. The girl behind the counter must have asked me atleast thrice if not more during that time if I was ready to order and each time I said give me couple minutes.I mean, you see a customer trying to understand your menu and make a pick why would you interrupt them. And its not like there was a line or they were busy or something.
I finally made my choice.Wrapped Whole Wheat with the roasted pepper sauce and assorted falafelsSpinach and Brocolli, Mushroom and the Vegetable). When I asked for the toppings, he said very rudely "You get to choose only three ".I mean its just the way they talk and behave as if they doing you a favor. It was a great sandwich for $6 bucks and quality was far better than what you get at other places.
Will I ever return to this location,,,,never..Good Food and Service go hand in hand.A restaurant needs both to make it an enjoyable experience for the customer.
There aren't too many Bahn Mi places in Midtown. This chinese place right in the heart of midtown is super busy during lunch hours serving buffet chinese food , noodles soups and bahn mi.I was actually in a mood for a noodle soup but there were atleast 20 people ahead of me..and I was in a rush to get back to work.So I opted the Bahn Mi which is served and prepared out of a different counter near the cash register.I ordered the Roasted Mushroom Bahn Mi and asked her to make it spicy.
She scooped out the mushrooms from the buffet. It was 6.95 + tax While still working on my orders she continued taking orders for bubble teas and iced teas and working on them simultaneously.
8 minutes later which seemed forever cause I was starving, I had the box with my sandwich cut in two and some chips.I came back to office and started working on my Viet meal. The sandwich was kind of bland although it had a good amount of filling.Since the mushrooms were not specifically cooked for these and were outta some curry, the bread had got very soggy. There were a whole bunch of cilantro stems..yes stems not leaves in the sandwich. It was loaded with the pickled carrots and radishes and had some slices of heatless tasteless jalapeno. The sandwich was very filling and could be easily shared by two. Will I return to eat their Bahn mi, probably not.But the noodle soups definitely looked very appealing and I would like to give them a try. They were around 6.95 too
Not so good things about this bahn mi:-
**The bread was really thick and kinda hard.
**Too many cilantro stems..
**They used mushrooms with sauce from the buffet which made the bread very soggy.
**There was no heat element and the one present was totally devoid of it.
Stopped late one night for a quick bite.Name and the description of the place is kinda misleading. Most of you may understand why..
We got few samosas which seemed not bad for a $1 each and decent size too.
But they way too greasy and the filling inside is only potatoes.Sorry let me rephrase spicy mushy potatoes. There are no green peas and no other flavor from any other spices except chilli powder.Next time ill probably try their vegetarian platter which I read is not bad
They are open till late..
Have been to over dozen indian grocery stores in new york and new jersey.
Patel Cash and Carry on Newark Avenue is my least favorite.
Let me put them down:-
-Extremely filthy and you'll see vegetables on the floor
-Their food carts are the most disgusting ever although they seem to be brand new
-The staff doesn't seem to know or pretend to be ignorant about everything.
-I have rarely got answers to any questions I might have asked them.
-They are also very uncooperative.
-Their vegetables always look stale and a bit overpriced compared to other stores
-Most stores have a $10 minimum for credit card, these guys have a $15
-The entrance to the store is so unappealing and there is always a mess outside
I avoid this store for the reasons stated above and more.
Cheap, quick and a great assortment of cuban pastries. The famous Cuban Cheese Sandwich is only $2 and most of the pastries are a dollar each. There is usually a line of locals around which tells you how good the place is.
But also dont expect any great service from you and they dont do Cash Refund.I repeat they dont do Cash Refund.Once I paid them in advance for some ham and cheese sandwiches that I wanted to pick up after 15 minutes for my husband.I dont know what I was thinking. After I spoke to my husband he decided to have something else and they wouldn't adjust the price. And if they had even started working on my sandwiches I would understand. But they hadnt even started and right after I paid them, I told them if I could change my order and they blankly refused and kept pointing at the NO CASH REFUND SIGN.I was so mad at them that day and next weekend I found myself ordering their cheese sandwich and chocolate milk again.
But their food is good and its cheap and sometimes you would be just happy not expecting anything besides these things from these l'il stores.
I end up buying cakes from this bakery ever so often and after every trip I decide its going to be my last. Why dont I live up to my decision then you may ask?
Freaking convenience..Its literally 5 steps from Port Authority. So if I need a birthday cake for office or home this is the most convenient place to get one.
So what I dont like about this place:-
1) STAFF:- Their attitude sucks..Just because they service to a ton of tourists, they think they never ever have to smile nor show any customer service to their customers
2)STAFF:-They are freaking slow.Even when they are not so busy, they take forever to take your order and that too only after you have made ATLEAST couple attempts to get their attention
3)STAFF:-They took 15 minutes to just get the cake out from their display and put it a box and charge my card and this is not counting the 7-8 minutes I was trying to get their attention
Honestly this is repeated every single time and I cant believe I have never reviewed them till date.Maybe its the tiramisu cakes fault. It always makes me forget how rude uncaring their staff is.But last evening they didnt have any left and I ended up buying the black forest cake.It was probably the sweetest(sugar overdose) thing I have ever eaten in my life.I love cakes and sweeter the better but this was pure suicide.None of us could eat beyond the first bite.Great looking and fresh cake but I am just feeling nauseated just thinking about how sweet the cake was.
This time I really really think it was my last time at EuroPan.. Au Revoir..!!!!
Waiting for the bus at 42nd street to go home..Hear a rumble grumble from the tummy.Swing by inside the deli and get a vegetable burger which the guy there highly recommended.
The burger had a slice of tomato , some onions and ginormous vegetable patty..One bite of the burger and I knew he was dead wrong if he thinks his patties are great..It was dry and had way too much corn starch for binding. If I wasn't starving I dont think I would have bothered finishing it.Also got a spinach pie that I ate for dinner later was fairly decent..had to blot out some of the grease though..
I very very rarely write off a place completely.Vesper left me with no choice..I was staying at the Shelborne Hotel for three nights and my room rate included breakfast.Vesper which is their coffee shop has a great location overlooking the pool and the beach. It really has a very soothing and relaxing ambiance.Their timings are mentioned 7am-11am.None of the three days we stayed there, they were open by 7.After knocking on the door couple of times and walking around a hostess would show up with a platter of danish and croissants. This is was an everyday drill. It would take them another 30 minutes to set up the breakfast bar which included coffee, some orange juice, danishes, croissants and a toaster which did not work 2 days out of three. This hotel is at a convenient distance to the convention center and they have a lot of touristy crowd as well as people traveling for business.Least they could do is at least open on time and have the breakfast set up or change the timings for god sake if they think 7 am is too early for breakfast..There is not a manager around and when somebody complained that their toaster is not working..they said you would need to eat plain toast sorry..Whaaaaaaaaaaat..I love this hotel and I wish I could say the same thing about their restaurant.Guess if they have a manager around who takes ownership and sets more discipline the place wouldn't be so bad.And of course they need to add some more items to the breakfast..I mean even boiled eggs would be a great addition.
I think this hotel could so do away with this restaurant unless they decide to upgrade the customer experience
I am still getting over all the hype I have been hearing about this" place..Any mention of wings and people start asking.." Have you tried atomic wings?". Now finally after a year I can say yes..I have tried and you know what its no great guns..This place is literally a hole in a wall types with light blue tables and a blue water + blue sky wall paper.Totally unimpressive..Common..dont go all out and hire an interior decorator but at least decorate a place with a little more passion
Any who..we ordered with the suicidal sauce and garlic Parmesan and jerk..Sauces were great but the wings were dry and chewy and MEATLESS..We ordered a vegetable burger with a side of mac and cheese and small portion of fries...The burger patty was cold..yes COLD.Their portion of fries is huge and totally justifies the price of $4.50..and it was also the highlight of the meal..
I wish I had given this place a miss.I might swing by next time to try their famous waffle fries though.
My cousin came over from TN and we were still hung over from the Thai Food from Yum Yum Bangkok so we ordered again last night from Lotus after our great experience last month. I ordered the Vegetable Pad Thai,Vegetable and Tofu Green Curry and the Spicy Basil Fried Rice.Delivery was impressive..25 mins.
When we sat down to eat, we realized there was no basil fried rice and there was an extra curry.I went through the bill and say Basil Curry on it...aarrrrrrrrgh..We started with eating Pad Thai and was just wayyyy to sweet and there were barely any vegetables..NP..Added a small dash of siracha and seemed not so bad.The green curry had one ONE piece of Tofu..yes i counted..there was just ONE piece of Tofu..and the only vegetables I could see were bell peppers and string beans..it was like I was having a string beans curry. The basil curry was not so bad actually but i was in a mood to eat fried rice and somehow i kept longing for it all through the meal.
I dont know if it was all Yum Yums fault for making me taste that super yummy green curry that nothing came close second after that or the curry from LT was really a disaster.I could taste no lemon grass and not did I see any bamboo shoots..I am not so sure if I would want to order from this place again..It was just the opposite of what we had experienced in our last meal from LT..We are at a friends house last evening and they regularly order food from here. Although we live a… En savoir plus
There are not too many indian restaurants in the area and that has been the main reason for tanjores survival.Service sucks, food is boring and lacks flavor. In the buffet you hardly find vegetarian items and almost every other day they have cabbage..There are zillion vegetarian items and they can think of cabbage..Inspite of being a regular there, the manager would not even acknowledge our presence or even smile..If you like good indian food , stay away from this place..Or go there if you are craving indian food and have no other choice like I did.
Changing it to 3 Stars solely because got an apology email from the manager. At least it shows that they do care for dissatisfied customers unlike their wait staff.
Hopefully I can go there again to re-review the place based on the experience of the food alone.Terrible Attitude, Terrible Service and Terrible Management Policies. If you love Korean food and… En savoir plus
