Plumed Horse is a hidden gem in downtown Saratoga. If you haven't been since they remodeled, you should definitely consider dining here for a special occasion. The interior is absolutely gorgeous, with a spacious dining room, bar, and glass floor wine cellar. Service is outstanding.
I can't remember all of the things that we tried, but the black pepper and parmesan souffle with dungeness crab and uni, black cod, and valrhona chocolate souffle were all excellent.
I recommend joining their VIP email list, which offers promotions for birthdays and anniversaries. For birthdays, they provide guests with complimentary champagne, as well as a bottle of wine to take home!
I came here for the Chocolate Festival last April, and I was amazed by how beautiful the Mountain Winery is. Even more impressive is that it's a 10 minute drive from my house, and I had no idea it existed!
5 stars for the breathtaking views and well-maintained grounds. If you ever feel like wine tasting but don't want to drive all the way to Napa, you should check the Mountain Winery out.
Delicious bagels, and a nice family-owned business. Mei, the owner, is friendly and always remembers what I order.
If you're in the mood for a bagel sandwich, try their chicken salad sandwich or the vegetarian sandwich. The chicken salad sandwich is their best seller, and it's addicting. They always give you a generous amount of chicken and it comes with tomatoes, onions, and lettuce. Free bag of chips w/ any sandwich!
Very nice library! I'm so lucky to live only 5 mins away from it.
My review is for the children's area, in particular the video/media section. I give it 5 stars because they have a GREAT variety of Barney dvds and videotapes. My niece was obsessed with Barney this past summer, and we visited the library every few days to get her new Barney rentals. This library is awesome because you can look online to see which Barneys they have, and request for transfers from all of the other Santa Clary County locations. Totally beats having to pay $4/rental at Blockbuster!
Super clean and recently renovated, brightly lit inside, lots of corner areas to study by yourself, enough tables to study side-by-side with a partner, and a room for group projects. Plenty of parking, and a safe location.
It's hard to write anything that hasn't already been said, so I'll keep my review short and sweet:
Fun and unique dining experience, a great date spot.
A little expensive but worthwhile if you've never done fondue before. The best fondue restaurant in the South Bay.
Be prepared to come out of the restaurant smelling like cheese+meats!
I highly recommend coming here for dessert only. It's a great deal, fun for a late night date, and you can ask for seconds which are complimentary.
A nice spot in downtown Saratoga. It looks like some people have been unhappy with the change in ownership, but I was perfectly happy during my visit yesterday.
I'm not a huge coffee drinker so I won't comment on the caffeinated drinks, although I did appreciate my huge Italian soda for only $2.50!
I also picked up a freshly made alfajor (dulce de leche sandwiched between 2 butter cookies, dusted with powdered sugar). This cookie MADE MY DAY and continued to make me happy this afternoon when I ate the other half. Each cookie is a little pricey at $2.50, but I will return again very soon because they were oh so good.
Nice, relaxed atmosphere, free wifi, and plenty of sunlight during the day. Support local businesses and downtown Saratoga!
I was surprised to find an Indonesian restaurant in the South Bay, and even more surprised to learn that it was located in downtown Saratoga!
The restaurant itself is very small and hidden (you can't see it from Big Basin Way). When you see the UPS store on your right, you can either turn right and park in the back parking lot or turn left and park in the Wells Fargo parking lot and walk across the street. Walk all the way to the back of the building and you will see a hanging sign for Indo Cafe.
We came here for my dad's dinner and were very pleased with the quality and taste of the food. I met with the owner the day before to plan our menu, so she made some dishes for us that are not on the regular menu.
I highly recommend that you call ahead and place your order before coming. Eating at Indo Cafe is like eating at someone's home, so all of the food is freshly made but it does take some time for each dish to be served. Also, it is CASH ONLY so make sure you come prepared. There are only 2 small tables and most people order food to go.
-Indonesian chicken soup (generous portion of chicken, lemongrass, bean sprouts, eggs, potatoes, rice noodles). This soup was excellent! My entire family loved it.
-Croquette (deep fried mashed potatoes stuffed with ground beef). Served piping hot, very good flavor and texture.
-Fried chicken. This was another favorite for my family. The skin was extra crispy and the chicken was tender. Some of the best fried chicken in the South Bay!
-Red egg. A boiled egg that was coated in a batter, deep fried, and served with a mild red sauce. Unique and delicious.
-Cendol (palm sugar, coconut milk, pandan flavor, diced jackfruit, and tapioca strings). Refreshing dessert drink that went well with all of the spicy dishes.
Indo Cafe is a wonderful addition to sleepy downtown Saratoga and I look forward to seeing them expand in the future!
4.5 stars for the quality and taste
I've returned to Hachi Ju Hachi a few times since my first review, and I really like the restaurant. It's a great addition to downtown Saratoga, and I hope that they continue to do well.
Those yelpers who give the restaurant 1 or 2 stars don't appreciate the simplicity of Japanese food. You have to keep in mind that this isn't your typical beef teriyaki and California rolls place.
I highly recommend any of the fish dishes at Hachi Ju Hachi. They are excellent and cooked to perfection. Just make sure that you eat it as soon as they bring it out to thoroughly enjoy it.
My favorites are the salmon with red miso sauce and the mackerel. The boxed sushi (both salmon and mackerel) are very good. If you want something light, the bean curd and tofu in broth is a nice side dish.
I wouldn't recommend some of the meat dishes--for example, I found the grilled pork belly to be dry and tough.
I have to agree that the service is spotty. All of the staff is very polite, but they don't check on you very often.I came here on a Sunday night around 5pm, and I was surprised to see that there were already quite a… En savoir plus
My family used to come here all the time when we first moved to Saratoga, and I still come here occasionally because of its convenient location and hours. When you need to see a doctor and it's a holiday or the weekend, it's much better to go here than the ER.
I like that this clinic is clean, quiet, and not too busy. Although when I arrived 5 minutes before opening, there were about 3 people ahead of me. So perhaps it's better not to come right when they open? I'm not sure.
Their prices are not ridiculously high, and the doctors at this clinic care a lot about their patients. Dr. Wetterholt spent his time speaking with me and explaining my symptoms and medication. Also, when I called the next morning with a question, the other doctor immediately came on the line and spoke with me. While they don't accept insurance, I recommend the Saratoga Walk-In Clinic.
