bite sized pieces of signature crust or wholegrain beer crust brushed with garlic or cajun spice served with ranch dressing or marinara sauce
Beers (try any of the house beers-YUM), beer buddies (GET), mozz sticks (hard pass), and DOGGIES (pet). Great spot to grab a few beers, some delicious pizza/beer buddies, and hang out. They have games and lots of space for small groups and families to hang out. TVs with sports playing and a welcoming atmosphere. Reminds me of college (and I'm still getting ID'd so I suppose that's okay...)
Saturday afternoon we took a break from our coastal Carlsbad walk to stop at this Pizza Port. Beer was good, the atmosphere nice, but there's no service. Everyone waits in lines: separate lines for beer and food, which is a hassle, especially when a crowd started pouring in around 5pm.
Once you've ordered, you wait until your name is called (which makes this place even noisier) and go pick up your food at the window on the far right, not where you ordered on the left. I saw no signs that advise people of this.
Best deal was the "Beer Buddies" with choice of a creamy dipping sauce or a great fresh marinara that wasn't salty at all, thankfully. We got the "Garlic Buddies" variant because we love garlic. Ask for extra sauce. For only $3.25 or so, we shared a generous basket of these tasty rectangular pieces of "pizza" and crust without cheese.
Great pizza, but I usually go for some beer buddies and a beer. A very family friendly place and a dog friendly outside patio. Sometimes you may have to wait a bit for your pizza but that's just something you'll have to deal with at a popular restaurant. Check them out for the annual strong ale fest!

Bf and I's favorite Pizza Port to go to. Why? It's in the heart of Carlsbad, there's a nifty tasting room area just for beer, and there are fewer kids running around (we like kids but just need some space haha).
Pretty sure at one point we were coming here every week more because this was the place for beer. Can't get enough of the Pizza Port brews. Also, garlic beer buddies are so bomb. Oh and if you're not a beer drinker or just not feeling up to it, I suggest getting their in-house root beer. It is EXTREMELY good. Not too fizzy, almost has a straight-up sasparilla taste, and is very smooth. You can also order a root beer float (ice cream also made in-house). Rockin!
Parking can be hard to come by because their little parking lot is very little, and most of the time you're parking in surrounding streets as this is by the beach and around many other restaurants and stores.
A great place to come by to grab a beer or taster, grab pizza or a few bites to eat (there's beer buddies, wings, salad, pizza) to get... Heck, you can also restaurant hop to nearby venues.
Most people come to pizza port for their outstanding draft list but they do have a few wines by the glass as well. Pizza is good but the wings, beer buddies, and salads are all good alternatives if you are tired of pizza. Come later on the evening if large groups of families with whiney children bother you. Usually by 8:30 or 9:00 they've all gone home.
So of all the Pizza Ports I've been to, this is my fave. It's the first one I ever tried and my first impression was that it was a loud, surfer, young, hip and urban kinda crowd. It feels unique, not like a sterile chain restaurant like....ahem....some of the other, newer Pizza Ports feel like. An authentic place.
The place is always busy, but don't be shy! Grab some seats as you can, it's seat yourself. Then get your beers and order your pizza while someone saves the seats. Relax and watch whatever games they've got on the big screens until they call out your name to pick up your pizza.
We're from Chicago and fussy about our pizza, but we love the Lahaina and San Francisco pizzas here. Chewy crust and fresh veggies and they don't drown the thing in cheese or sauce. The sausage is good, with a little kick to it. The salads are touch and go, but the beer buddies are good. Don't go here if you're counting carbs, that's for sure. The beer is a treat. They always have several different types on tap and we always find new ones to try. Probably my favorite microbrewery.
It's just a fun place for pizza and beer. Out of town visitors, especially younger ones, love it. Very kid tolerant.
I love pizza port! As you can tell from most of my reviews, i'm a pizza fanatic!! It's a 5 minute drive from my place so I come here often. All there pizza's are amazing and served with fresh ingredients. You have to get the beer buddies, or garlic buddies..so delicious and only a couple bucks.
Pizza port is a really chill laid back place with lot's of seating, great for big groups! I just learned that they do have back parking as well at street parking. It's a nice area, close to the beach and in the middle of cozy Carlsbad Village!
Pizza port is one of my favorite pizza places. We like to go here for gatherings with friends. It's always usually super crowded so it's good to go early so that way you can try to hold a section. I like that they added an outdoor area for the brewery portion, there's more room to stand and socialize.
My favorite pizza here is for sure the pizza carlsbad, SO yummy. We also love their beer buddies. They always have awesome beers on tap. The manager, Trent, is super cool and always makes sure we are happy customers.
If you haven't been - Pizza Port is a must try staple for Carlsbad Village!!
I usually come here for my birthday or get togethers with friends. The patio outside is perfect for groups. Inside gets really crowded and you end up sharing a bench with strangers a lot of the time. Parking is always scarce here on the weekends, but there is plenty of street parking around.
To order here, you wait in line first and then sit dow. Have someone snag a table while you are in line. I usually keep it basic with just a pepperoni pizza and it never does me wrong. They have a lot of specialty pizzas to choose from too, so it kinda depends what kind of mood you are in. Salads are basic and fresh. Make sure to ask for ranch dressing when you order bc they usually question if you did when you ask for some while picking up you pizza. They put a lot of pepperonis on they pizzas. It's worth it!
They have a ton of good beers to choose from. They have a lot of TVs inside and none outside. Most TVs are around the bar. They have a few arcade games for kids. Outside they have one small bench for kids to sit.
Beer buddies are good. Wings are pretty good too.
I was recommended there by a local. Let me start of by saying that the place was packed. You order first, then sit down place. We had beer buddies, the San Francisco pizza and buffalo wings plus a root beer float. It was all fresh made and delicious. Great atmosphere and the staff was also very friendly. I usually don't drink beer but the people sitting next to us said they were great so I decided to try one, I can't remember the name of it but it was strawberry flavored. My kids loved the root beer float and the beer buddies.

Beloved Pizza Port. I feel like it's a Carlsbad staple. Been going here for a few years since I was in college. It's a fun place to grab lunch, dinner, or drinks and apps. Definitely a fun spot.
Parking: They've got a small private lot, so there's always street parking, and people park in the bank lot across the street at night and walk over.
Deals: They've got wings and cheese stick Wednesdays. Not sure the exact price, but It's like $0.60/each.
I've tried a few of their pizzas and they're all good. My favorite is still the BBQ chicken. I've had the Carlsbad and Roma.
Beer buddies aka garlic bread, comes with ranch and marinara! Their small salads are huge! I like the Caesar.
Good beer selection, I always get hard cider that they have on tap!
On a busy night, expect to wait 45 minutes + for your food.
YummM! We found ourselves in Pizza Port after the Carlsbad 5000 race. I'm not sure if this place is always this busy but it was buzzin' with finishers. The line to order wasn't horrible and was surprisingly fairly fast moving.
I ordered the Caesar Salad, Beer Buddies and San Fran pizza for the three of us to share.
We found a few bar stools and counter seating near the front window which gave us a good view of the finish line and athlete exit for the race. The entire place is communal seating which is fine but you have a brighter better, people watching experience from the seats up top near the window.
Our salad was done in a flash and our beer buddies came our next, both good and both more than enough to hold us over until the medium pizza was done.
Our pizza was piping hot! I really liked the crust and I'm never one of those "this crust is so amazing" type pie eaters but I did find myself commenting out loud on how good it was. We had two very large slices left which we conveniently left at my boyfriends Moms house since we were so full.
The beer line is separate than the food line, we later stood in it for a short while and ordered a couple pints of beer that we hadn't had at the finish line. I had the Amber ale and my boyfriend a darker stout beer which was just ok. The IPA at the 5k finish line may have been our favorite.
I wouldn't rule out returning here if in the area again.
Pizza Port Carlsbad is one of my favorite Pizza Ports, primarily because it is one of the closest locations to OC!
The pizza and beer buddies are consistent with all of the other locations I have been to. The main difference between each location is the beer selection and the layout. The decor is pretty much the same formula at each location, but the layout is a bit different.
We love the pizza, but we mow down the garlic, cheesy beer buddies like nobodies business! Rarely are there any buddies left. And we would rather reheat the pizza the next day than pass up on the buddies.
We shared a pitcher of Abita Wrought Iron, which is a 6.9% ABV American IPA. It has a bit of a bite to it, like most IPAs, but it has a great flavor.
While waiting in the long line to order, I was tempted to use their app toile my order, but then the line moved quicker and I canceled my app order.
You can download the app by texting 33733 with the word "port".
Parking is a bit of a bear, but you should easily find some street-level parking down the block.
It's been some time since I reviewed Pizza Port, and they deserve a raise! They're a brewery in Carlsbad Village that serves craft beer, pizza, pretzels, salads, amongst a few other things. There's also the bottle shop next door for a more grown up experience, sans kiddos & arcade games. The staff never misses a beat, and I love seeing them whenever we make it in.
I've visited this place for the past 8-9 years, these are a few of my favorites things:
-Poor Man's 2x IPA and Carlsbad Raceway
-You can take Swami's in cans home now that the brewery started canning in Bressi.
-Garlic Veggie on Vegan Beer Crust, hold the cheese, please!
-If you CAN eat cheese, like most people, check out the Pizza Carlsbad or the Pizza San Clemente for a truly unique pie
-Portzel is SO good fresh out of the oven & it's a nice afternoon snack
-Beer Buddies are just so darn good and even greater to share
-For $6 you get a fountain drink + 1 slice of Pepperoni or Cheese. They usually also have a featured special type that varies. I believe you can upgrade your soda to a beer for a couple bucks extra too.
