I really wanted to like this place, because Noe Valley could use more great local restaurants. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. We ordered the G Fries to share among 4 people; the order came with about 20 fries total. It would have been enough for one, and I wish the waitress would have pointed that out when we ordered. The menu is all over the place; I tried a quesadilla with pepper jack, feta, and red peppers, and the combination just did not work. My friends each got the chicken wrap thingie, and found it dry. We asked for ranch, but it took so long to come that they had almost finished eating when it arrived. The waitress was clearly new, so I don't want to be too harsh on her, but service was slow and she couldn't answer our fairly simple questions about the menu. I don't think I'll be returning to give it a second shot.
We came here for an early tasting on my birthday. The service and wines were great, but be aware that right now they are doing construction on their tasting room, so the tasting is located in a trailer. It was not exactly the atmosphere I was expecting.
I was in LA for the day for work, and just didn't feel like doing my own hair that morning. I found Belle on Yelp and came in for a blowout. It was amazing! Betty was very friendly, took my last minute appointment, and gave me an amazing blowout that lasted through the whole weekend. I would definitely return if I was in this neck of the woods again!
This review is for Handyman services- I was very satisfied with my overall experience. I have a tall skinny closet in my apartment that was pretty much just holding a swiffer and some sad paper towel rolls. I decided that I wanted to add shelving so I could use it for storing more of my kitchen stuff.
I bought the wood at Home Depot and had it cut to size for the shelves, and also purchased L brackets for hanging the shelves. However, I wanted a pro to actually install them since I don't have the tools or know-how. Booking with Handybook was super easy. I booked on a Sunday for a Wednesday appointment. Jan, my handyman, showed up exactly on time, and completed the work within the 2 hour time frame estimated.
The Home Depot guy cut the shelves a little too big, so I mentioned this ahead of time and Jan brought a power saw to trim the to size. I am thrilled with my new shelves and would definitely use Handybook again for similar services. Total cost for 2 hours was $120 (but I found a $30 off coupon code online). Well worth it!
Don't tell SouCycle but Barry's is my new favorite workout!
If you love to get your butt kicked and run so fast you think you might throw up, you'll love Barry's. But don't be intimated, people of all levels are there and it's easy to modify the intensity to fit your needs. In each class, you alternate between treadmill (typically sprints) and weights/bands on the floor- usually you rotate every 8ish minutes, so the time flies by. The instructors are all great and keep you motivated throughout class to keep pushing through. I always leave feeling like I got a great cardio and strength workout.
Park in the Safeway lot and spend $5 before or after class to get your parking validated (for 90 min).
The only thing I wish they'd add is a water bottle fill-up station. The smoothie bar will fill your bottle, but the water isn't very cold.
I went in here expecting it to be the former Yzinn, which I loved! I was sad to see Yzinn was closed, but decided to give Sally's a try since I was already there.
The good: They have a great nail polish selection, it's clean, service was friendly, and the price for mani/pedi was competitive with other Noe nail salons ($32), and it was quick (I was out in an hour)
The bad: Unfortunately, I didn't think the results were very good. My fingernails looked streaky and my toenails looked very sloppy upon looking at them more closely. I suppose I could have asked them to re-do it, but it was closing time, and I didn't want to spend another hour there.
There are so many other nail salons in Noe Valley that I don't see a reason to ever go back.I started going here for the lash tinting: I've gotten my eyelashes done many times before, only at… En savoir plus
One of the worst hotel experiences I have had, and I travel weekly for work. I would usually never stay in Brooklyn except that when booking a trip last minute, every hotel under $500 a night in Manhattan was booked and his one seemed to have good reviews.
I checked in at 7:30 PM and apparently was the last guest to arrive so was given the worst room in the place. I could literally hear phone ring and word being said in the lobby, as well as the blaring techno music and the ice cream truck outside (why this was going on at 8 PM I don't know). I was not a happy camper, as I had not slept at all the night before on my red eye, and was really just looking for a quiet place to relax.
There aren't even restaurants or cabs around. This is not civilization! Sorry to be snobby but just...no.
I've taken several items to Uptown and always been happy with the outcome. I've brought two bridesmaid dresses to him for various issues: too tight, too long, too poofy, too wide of sleeves...and he fixed everything! I've also brought in dresses for more minor fixes like a broken zipper or missing snap. His prices are extremely reasonable- I think I paid $25 to have boning removed, sleeves brought in, and the bodice let out of a dress. Another tailor told my fellow bridesmaid that it would be cost-prohibitive just to remove the boning. I haven't ever taken jeans to this place, so can't comment on that, but absolutely recommend for an amazing job on dress tailoring!
I had a bang emergency while visiting from out of town. I was staying around the corner from this salon and even though it is definitely not a "walk-ins welcome" type of place I decided to try my luck with seeing if someone, ANYONE, could trim my bangs. One of the stylists who was waiting for another client did them for me- and didn't even charge me, even though I'm not a regular client. What great service! If I ever need a hair cut while in Chicago I would definitely go here.
I was in town for a wedding and came here to get my makeup done for the event. I made an appointment over the phone - I called on Weds for a Saturday and they were able to schedule me, but they were pretty booked, so I recommend booking early if you have a specific time you want to come in.
I felt that the makeup artist took time to understand what kind of look I was going for and what types of colors I felt comfortable with. My makeup turned out amazing- dramatic and just what I wanted. The cost was $50 for studio makeup session (which includes a free mascara of your choice) + $16 for the lashes.
I can see why some other people felt the staff is inattentive. This was not my experience, but the store was packed, and two of the four people on staff were busy with makeup appointments so weren't able to pay close attention to everyone in the store. So if you need some staff lovin', maybe don't come here during peak Saturday hours.
I'd definitely recommend them for special event makeup and will be back if I ever have another black tie affair in Chicago!
