Oh Whole Foods Redwood City how I miss you. I live in Fullerton now in Southern California and I miss my Whole Foods. I miss smiling faces and good food and for everyone that says Whole Foods is expensive count yourself fortunate that you don't have Sprouts up there. Holy Crap it's so over priced I wanted to cry. But the nearest Whole Foods to me is in Huntington Beach and they are no where near as good as the awesome Redwood City store. I love you guys. See you this summer.
WOW this place is way over rated. Ever since I moved here from Nor Cal everyone has been telling me I have to try Pinkberry. Well I tried it and truthfully it is FAIL! I normally love Fro-yo but I also have high standards for it. We have lots of great Fro-yo places in San Francisco and even the worst of them blows Pinkberry out of the water. This is quite possible the worst and most over priced fro-yo I ever had.
I gave it a couple years and it is still the same horrible service and bad food again I have to say I wish there were an option for no Stars makes me wonder if the people giving this five and four stars work for the company. No stars was not an option.
I don't think I have ever seen service this bad before. The waiter got… En savoir plus
I love Quickly I have never been let down by one so far. I love this one because it is possibly the one place out here I can go when I am homesick for the bay area that reminds me of home seeing as we have Quickly everywhere up there. But yes this is my favorite place to go I am happy there is one in Fullerton.
So if you can make it through the cloud of perfume and smoke outside the door then you have gotten far. This place was the biggest disappointment yet. I was craving Mediterranean food because I had not had it since my return to the states.
This was clearly not the place to satisfy that craving. The food smelled vaguely of urine and the service was less than attentive. I had to practically beg for a water refill and there food was old and over seasoned.
The ladies smoking outside must have been related to the owner as they seemed to come and go freely from behind the counter. It was disturbing to us because they would not wash their hands before touching any of the food even though they has just come from smoking outside and their hands could not have been clean.
The final straw for me was when our so called "waitress" was trying to refill my water one of the smokers for outside called her away and told her we could wait. At that point I was so livid that I called what I had assumed to be the manager over and asked him for the bill. He seemed very annoyed and asked why I didn't ask our server for it. I told him what had happened he seemed very unapologetic and threw our bill on the table I looked it over and noticed they had attached a gratuity to it I told him I would never tip for service and food so bad paid for our meal and left.
As we were leaving he mumbled something to one of the ladies in a another language and she laughed and said some people are just cheap. Having already been beyond livid I turned around and told her I had the money to tip but they did not deserve it. I walked out making sure the door rattled shut behind me never to return again.
So the only reason we eat here is because my husband is friends with one of the sushi chefs which is also why they have two stars and not just one. He is always pulling their butts out of the fire where we are concerned.
They are cramped, the servers and many of the customers are rude to say the least. It is loud and not conducive to digestion even a little bit. I guess if your a drunken idiot then Miyake is the place for you.
However be for warned if you are a vegetarian, The miso soup will be offered to you even though it is made with a fish base and if you have one of the non Japanese servers be prepared to be asked why a vegetarian is eating there. Also be prepared for a lot of eye rolling about being a vegetarian.
So if you want rude service sub par sushi and high prices then go here if you want great service a quiet romantic setting with top notch sushi go to Maru Maru in San Mateo , if you want a lot of sushi for your money go to Joy also in San Mateo. However for the best Japanese meal I have had in a while there is a new place in Redwood City called Little MadFish that I think you would love.
I absolutely love this place in fact I seldom take a trip to San Mateo with out stopping for an awesome Milk Tea and some fried tofu. That may sound weird to one accustomed to a western diet but what more can I say i love it.
I always get service with a smile and I don't mind the wait they are usually very busy because the rest of San Mateo seems to love them as much as I do. I never have to wait very long since I always order the same thing (kiwi milk tea with rainbow jelly and large tapioca balls and a side of fried tofu) they are very quick to serve me.
I have no problem giving Quickly 5 stars. Value, service and quality always top notch.
Sequoia Station has just taken it up a notch with a brand new Japanese Restaurant called Little MadFish this new bay area chain had popped up in Pier 39 and the East Bay as well.
We kept our expectation kind of low as they are in a strip mall and we try to stay away from Sushi Restaurants in strip malls but we were hungry and I had to be at work at three.
We were pleasantly surprised the interior no longer looked like a pizza place and the service was top notch. I enjoyed the fact that they have Vegetarian selections on the Menu.
We tried the sushi but are very excited to go back for the Ramen and Bento Boxes.
We left full and happy and far from broke so I would absolutely say that this place is worth the money by far.
Great Service and Value in a convenient location.
We have been back now three times and have tried both the Ramen and the Bento boxes. This place never lets us down with more than generous portions and low prices I will give this place five stars over and over.
The high point of the meal however is not their amazing food which absolutely speaks for itself but there awesome awe inspiring desert.
Deep Fried Green Tea Ice Cream breaded with pound Cake instead of Corn Flakes. It is formed into a ball deep fried then split down the middle topped with whip cream and chocolate sauce and truly taste as great as it looks. I am so incredibly happy with this place that I will return again and again.
This was the easiest five stars I have ever given.
We went on their opening night and it was pretty cool. Not spectacular just a little sushi place on main street.
We ordered a couple of rolls and some nigiri the rolls were really good but what we really enjoyed was their nigiri and their Miso soup wasn't made with Benito Flakes so a vegetarian could order it.
The service was good I had to ask for a refill on tea once or twice but other than that it was pretty good. I would recommended them for lunch or a quick diner if your in the area. Nothing to really go out of your way for. But good none the less.
