Sips is awesome! It is our go to place every summer at least twice. Great artsy atmosphere. Casual low key but with fine dining. Always have a 10!! Oh yeah it is a known for pastries and great lattes. Owner is so nice and staff is always friendly. Small and cozy. Reserve or go before. 6. Just come for drinks? That is also a great experience. Never lets us down. Deserts rock.
My husband and I decided to take a drive down for dinner on a July Saturday night. We looked at several menus and decided on this place because of the food and the atmosphere. It is a cool older little house and seating is in different places which we like. It is decorated in an artsy eclectic way with victorian china in glass hutches etc.. The prices were moderate for mainstream tourist maine which we are used to living in Portland. The food was good, service was satisfactory. My husband had the special which was tuna, it was a healthy portion with rice. If you have dietary restrictions or need to modify this may not be the place, call ahead. I asked them to make me a salad with chicken, both on the menu. I told them upfront I was happy to pay extra. This seemed to be an issue but the chef did make me a great salad in the end. He did charge us for the very expensive chicken entree and the dish was small. Waitress said you pretty much have to order with no modifications on the items. That being said, it was romantic and a good experience. I would return or bring guests.
