As a resident within walking distance of downtown Sunnyvale, I was so excited to see a dessert/pastry/ coffee place opening up. Unfortunately, this place does not live up to expectation.
The ambiance lacks character, and the desserts have a "made offsite but sold here" look and taste. I tried two desserts and two coffees and felt like I wasted a good $13.
For a relatively small local chain, it's not as charming as I had hoped. :( I'll definitely be taking my business to The Bean Scene or Philz 2 blocks over.
If management reads this, please do something about the dishes/garbage/ smell right next to the coffee accoutrement area. Not appetizing. :(
- Solid ramen spot! Their ramen is so delicious, I haven't been able to try the other main dishes on their menu (Japanese curries, etc.)
- Instant gratification: there is rarely ever a line to be seated.
- Must haves: chicken karaage!! spicy tonkatsu ramen is my fave
Reason I didn't give 5 stars:
- They don't serve hot tea!! What Japanese place doesn't have ocha?!
- Service is usually pretty good, but sometimes they're short staffed and it's a noticeable wait for ordering and billing.
This ish is delicious. They clearly care about the quality of the tea and boba, which sets them apart from the cookie cutter boba places. Their toppings are unique--try the crystal boba (lower calorie and crunchier than regular honey boba).
I deduct one star for ambiance/ customer experience. It's loud, crowded indoors and out, and the servers YELL when a drink is done. Not necessary when people are already crowded around waiting for their order.
With popularity comes a crowd, but they could more actively manage. Overall, this is our new spot for a delicious boba drink.
Andy and team were true professionals. They answered my questions over the phone, and provided a hands on hearing approach once the issue was identified and fixed on my car.
They were able to quickly troubleshoot my car's problem, and fix with no extra frills or up-sells.
I'd recommend them to my closet friends, family, and even you, stranger!
First of all, this place is adorable and has a fantastic vibe. Plus, they have super welcoming staff. It's also a great place to enjoy the patio and catch up on some work (they have wifi) while casually ordering a few drinks and snacks.
Will definitely be back!
The food is SO good--I've never tasted a bad dish here.
Tip: If you have a small group, the "sampler" appetizer is a cost effective way to taste many of their dips, small salads, and falafels. Totally worth it.
Also, their cocktails are inventive and delicious.
I'm reluctant to share with the world for fear of it becoming too popular! Ruby's is our go-to burrito joint in the area with a mean carne asada burrito.
If you can muster the willpower, cut your burrito in half and save for tomorrow's lunch. You know how people say cold pizza is better than warm pizza? 1). They're wrong 2). Cold burritos are arguably better than warm burritos. Enjoy!
I had my first MAS trip this past weekend for the Bear Valley Sierra Adventure Weekend Climbing Trip. For someone who has never rock climbed before, I was nervous about just "going for it" without ever climbing indoors at a climbing gym.
Our guides Charlie and Cliff did an EXCELLENT job of making my mom and I (and the rest of the group) feel safe and gave us the encouragement we needed. They provided all the gear and knowledge to make my first climbing experience a blast!!! They did a safety briefing before we started climbing (belaying, tying the 10point rope) and it was hilarious!! :)
We climbed at Box Canyon and I highly recommend climbing there sometime!!! It's BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Thank you to MAS but especially Charlie and Cliff for giving me the climbing bug.
After a hard drive up Hwy 9, I suddenly had that overwhelming feeling of guilt that my car was in desperate need of an oil change.
I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I pulled up and immediately they looked at my car (2008 MINI Cooper S) and wanted to check to make sure they had the correct filter. After telling me they did, they told me it was going to be 15 mins and I'd be good to go.
Turns out, they didn't have the correct filter, which SUCKS. But they drove to MINI of Mountain View to get the right one only to find out that the dealer switched locations. Instead of just saying "sorry, we tried...." the owner(?)/ manager drove to Stevens Creek in traffic and got the correct filter. He even (supposedly) bought a few more for when I come back.
In the meantime, the shop guys created small, fun conversation and it was a nice day so I just hung out and worked on my tan! Haha
The whole thing took about 1.5 hours instead of the advertised "10 minutes" but they went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make me happy and get my oil changed.
They gave me a $5 discount for making me wait so long but I was blown away that they went through all of that trouble for little 'ole me!!
I have already gotten a few friends to go there and they had positive experiences, too! Needless to say I'll be back!! Hopefully I'll be in and out in under 20 minutes this time :)
I rated 4 stars because they didn't have the filter that they said they did (which a lot of people would be fed up with) , but 5 starts for SURE for making up for it!!! :)
I just got back from having John install my Stratmosphere Cat-Back Exhaust on my 2008 MINI Cooper S. Seriously, this guy was amazing!!!!
First of all, I didn't have the instructions (which is why I wanted him to install it instead of me). I called ahead to see if this was something he'd be able to do. He quoted me $50 over the phone and told me it'd take about 35-40 minutes to complete.
I drove down there and once he finished up with the car he was working on, he got right to work on "PepperAnn". He explained everything that he was going to do which gave me the confidence that he knew what he was doing and finished the job in 35-40 minutes just as he expected. And guess what?! He charged me $50 bucks, like he initially said, WHAT A CONCEPT!
He used a level to make sure the tips were straight and loaded up my stock exhaust system for me, too!
What a great guy! As a female, it was refreshing to find a male shop owner who didn't speak down to me or overcharge me because he thinks he can get away with it. He was honest, worked efficiently, and made me smile soooo big when I turned on my car for the first time and heard the new sound.
THANK YOU JOHN AND SPEEDEE MUFFLERS!! :)
