This is a follow up to my previous review. Over the years since Lan did our wedding in 2010, my family and friends have had a need for several funeral floral arrangements. I've referred everyone to Lan and thank goodness they were all very happy (otherwise I'd feel bad). It's unanimous, Lan is the BEST. She is wonderful to work with and genuinely cares about people. She consistently delivers amazing results. At funerals you can really compare the difference; her works stands out above and beyond the other floral arrangements. Prices are still the best any of us have found. She is our go to florist for everything now and we have no need to go anywhere else. No surprise she has so many glowing reviews now and a 5 star rating! I would imagine she's quite busy so best to book her early. (P.S. the date on my previous review is wrong, I wrote it along time ago but not sure why it says 2/2014)High value, good prices, great results. After interviewing multiple florists (private and shops) for… En savoir plus
We just moved to Toledo last year and needed to file taxes for two states plus an issue with debt from an out of state business that no longer exist. We decided to send a request to over a dozen CPAs and enrolled agents in the area asking for a quote for tax prep service based on our situation, tax forms we received, and itemized deductions. Of the half dozen or so that we interviewed, we liked Nate the best. He was patient, clear, asked great questions, things we hadn't considered or even knew about, to get us the best return. The whole process was efficient, easy, and so much better than CPAs, other tax preparers and DIY software that we've used in the past. We were so pleased with his expertise, advice, and fast turnaround we got two more relatives from out of state to do their tax returns with Nate too. His prices were very reasonable and saved so much time there is no need for us to do it ourselves using software. We'll be seeing him again at tax season next year for sure. Thanks Nate!
I really like J&G in Sylvania but I like ZaZa's pizza a bit more. We got the roasted chicken (the #9 I think), the spinach salad, and fries, and all we're delicious. Nice thin crust pizza, tomatoes on top were sliced thin and spread plentifully which I prefer with a thin crust pizza v fewer thicker slices or diced. The smell of the aromatic herbs sprinkled on top of the pizza right before biting into it was especially nice - I don't remember that sensory experience with any pizza I've had in the past. The gal that took our order and brought us our food was friendly and seemed to really like working there as well as the food. For an order at the counter type restaurant I did wonder why it cost a little more for pizza v other places. I did enjoy the food, atmosphere and friendly service so we'll be visiting ZaZa again, sooner if they offered a coupon or Yelp deal (hint hint :) since it is a farther drive and a bit pricier than J&G.
Needed some change and the closest shop was Starbucks or Haifa. Since I'm a fan of Peet's coffee, I tried Haifa. Got a chicken and a falafel sandwich, and some extra falafels on the side. Prepared fresh as I waited. Don't remember anything special about falafel I've had in the past so was not expecting much. One bite and I was like WOW! These falafels are awesome; crispy, moist and packed with flavor. Definitely coming back for more.
I wanted to buy a grill with the propane promotion offer and called in advance to make sure I could bring in my current propane tank instead. The customer rep confirmed I could but when I got to the store, there was actually no way to apply the promo this way at the register. The customer service rep Amanda explained that the other rep made a mistake. Since I drove all the way there (HD was near my house) Amanda brought the issue to manager Alonzo who understood what happened, took responsibility for the previous rep I spoke with on the phone and honor what was said. I was happy with how this was handled and the customer care that the staff provided. On the way out, the gal at the register asked to make sure I got my issue resolved and asked a big strong sales associate to help load the 100 lb grill. It's worth driving the extra miles to shop here. Competent customer friendly service. I previously used the online order and pick up, my first time, and it was very smooth and efficient. The pick up is right near the front door instead of in the back like some other vendors, and they had my item all ready to go. They make shopping online with store pick up so easy that I can take advantage of sales before they run out at the store! For a working mom this is a real plus and time saver! The only downer is I never got my 10% movers coupon even after registering on the Lowe's website - not this stores fault but something didn't work right on the web.
By far the best Asian market in Madison. Clean, organized and bigger than the other stores. They have a great selections of ingredients I need to make authentic Vietnamese home cooking. Best part, it is not smelly. If only it was closer to the Capital I would visit it more.
PS, this review was for my visits in 2011 through Jan 2012 before I moved. I was writing other reviews so thought do this one too.
Lovely decor. If only the food was as better. This place service a lighter version of Chinese food - not so greasy and heavy in salt and sauce. The pot stickers were good. Tried the a vegetable stir-fry with the brown sauce and seafood with broccoli in the chef's white sauce. They were good but nothing special. The best part about these dishes was the ingredients were better quality than other places. The beef lo mien was disappointing - dry, lacked flavor, and the beef was chunky not thinly sliced and need more marinade. The service was OK. My DH was quite annoyed at the staffs noisy chatting in the back like an outdoor market place (why do they talk so loud?). Maybe it was just a bad day so when I went to Viet Hoa Asian market with my mom I gave it another try, ordered different dishes hoping for better but unfortunately it was more of the same so-so, sub par results. The place is beautifully decorated with sound dampening ceiling panels (a real plus), and an impressive kitchen. Now, if they can just whip up some better dishes and distinct flavor....
PS. My experience was from two visits 2011. I was in the mood to write a review so thought I just do a few others while I'm at it. I just noticed they've closed - not surprised.
First off, I'm from San Jose California and spent a number of years in Madison while my husband went to medical school. I was very disappointed in the Vietnamese food selection until Ha Long Bay opened. I felt right at home and then some. Not only did they have Vietnamese food but also other Asian fare that is sort of like Thai, Cambodian, etc. The flavors reminds me of home with a slight twist that is unique to this restaurant. Portion size is good for price and I love that they offer choices of chicken, shrimp, tofu, etc. for the same dish. The staff is wonderful. We go there twice a week and they eventually remembered us. They would give us complementary desserts or let us try something we don't usually order. I'm so glad they did because I would never have tried Nem Khao Tod on my own and now it's one of our favorites! Other dishes we love is the crispy noodles, shrimp fried rice which has a nice smoky aroma, ginger chicken and curries. Not everything is great. The thai ice tea is too sweet and the pho is OK (can't compared to San Jose, but good enough to satisfy my pho craving). Wanted to give it 4.5 star but that's not possible so decided on 5 stars. Why 5 stars if the pho is just OK? In context, it is the mid-west and it is the best Vietnamese/Asian restaurant in town, and when the dishes are good they are really good and some are better than in San Jose. Now that we've moved I really miss this restaurant. When we go back to visit, we're definitely stopping by.
The two biggest decisions for our wedding and the most time consuming to find ones that we were happy with: a photographer and makeup artist. I wanted an experienced high-end makeup artist with a track record at a fair price for quality. Aimee met my requirements. She was soft spoken, meticulous, had great suggestions, listened well, and so pleasing to work with. We arranged to have the trail for our engagement photos. I loved the way she did my hair - curled and partially pinned up to give it an elegant romantic look. She airbrushed and transformed me from girl next door to supermodel yet it was still me but gorgeous! She even touched up the groom. The wedding photographer whose background was fashion photography was very impressed and asked who did my makeup so she can refer her clients. A co-worker saw my engagement photos and said it looked like it came right out of Hello! magazine. We did the same thing for our wedding and my friends raved about how I looked, words such as beautiful, stunning, and wow. I couldn't be happier. I was worried when it drizzled a bit while we took pictures outside but looking back at the photos, the makeup really held up well the whole evening. Totally worth it. Highly recommend.
Tip: I negotiated some $ off photography, choose a different appetizer, and save a little on decor so I can spend it on makeup. Good makeup makes for better photos that I'll keep forever.
The worst experience ever! DO NOT BUY gold coins, bullion, anything from Richard Oliver, Suisse Gold Corp, golddealer.ca. Slow delivery, no tracking number, terrible customer service, dishonest. If anything goes wrong you'll regret it. Richard will blame you the customer and then send you coins you didn't ordered. Here's what happened...
I ordered coins in January. Didn't receive any order status update by end of February. Sent Suisse Gold multiple requests for update and tracking number. He said he sent it weeks earlier and finally provided a tracking number when it was clear the package was lost.
We talked to the postman and the post office. USPS requires the sender initiate a reimbursement claim because the sender has the shipping receipt. They said valuables should have been sent via restricted delivery. Richard sent it by signature confirmation only meaning anyone can sign for it, even the postman and leave it outside. (No other online coin dealer ships this way!) USPS could not identify who signed it.
Richard refused to provide a refund or send replacement coins. He dragged his feet filing the claim and did not reply to our requests for updates, claim number, etc. I wondered if he really filed a claim at all.
He eventually sent us coins in May (5 months later!), again with no notice or tracking number. What we received was NOT what we ordered! Apparently the coins we ordered were no longer available. His solution: substitute whatever coin he had in stock without our consent! I paid extra for 2010 Kangaroos not 2011 Maples! This is not legal.
We wrote that we were not happy about this. Richard's May 29, 2011 email reply , direct quote:
"And I am not happy with having my insurance rates go up because you and your community STOLE the items I sold you and you did NOTHING to try and get them back. You did not go to the post office, find out who the post person was....NOTHING.
I would have gone to the police, the post office police (there is such a thing you know). You did NOTHING to try and help catch the thieves. Just blame the company. Everyone is so stupidly lazy today it's pathetic.....
So I do not feel any sympathy. R."
Seriously ?! I will never do business with this one-man show again! The marginally lower price is scam, false advertisement. There is no guarantee you will get what you paid for. Dishonest. BUYER BEWARE!!!
I've only written two online reviews and this one was absolutely necessary. I later found this website where Richard stiffed a few Canadians too: canadiansilverbug.blogsp…
Too late for me but I hope this review helps others.
P.S. Sean P.'s review was written on 5/24/2011. How does Sean know my name when I wrote my review 5 days after his?! What other confidential client information is Richard disclosing to others? Why does Sean care so much about defending Richard? Who is Sean P. really?
