So this place has horrible reviews but based on my experience I felt like they needed something better. I was given a gift certificate for my graduation and after looking at these reviews I was really apprehensive but I wasn't going to let it go to waste so I booked a facial. I thought it was really nice. I've had A LOT of facials all over the place at some not so nice spots and some super ridiculously nice places. My experience here was not the best I've had but it was defiantly good.
The place is clean and nice, they staff was friendly and accommodating. The products were nice and my skin felt pretty heavenly after wards.
Why not 5 stars? Well the facial ended a little bit early but it's a small business and they need to get the rooms ready for the next client I totally get it but maybe they should advertise it as 50 instead of 60. Also she did tell me a lot about my skin and skin care which is good and bad. It's helpful and nice, but I guess I just like people to complement my skin a bit more. "Oh you have such nice skin, this is what you can do to make it better" versus "How often do you exfoliate? That's too much it will cause..."
Neither of those are big deals to me, and over all I had a very good experience.
Paul is doing our wedding in June but he just recently did our engagement photos (included in our wedding package).
The photos came out AMAZING! He is extremely professional, punctual, went to the site ahead of time to check it out, and really took his time with us not rushing at all. His post-processing is also excellent so the pictures look simply gorgeous. Not to mention he has the best prices in town.
I'm looking even more forward to the wedding!
I've been taking my pets to Codornices Veterinary Clinic since I was a kid and continue to find it to be a comfortable, friendly caring vet.
The doctors and techs are all great from my experience. Even thought their office is busy they take their time with their patients and make sure to patiently answer any and all of your questions. Even if you ask a million of pointless questions like I tend to.
It's not cheap but they don't rip you off or anything either. I'd say it's fair.
It is busy, but really it's a tiny space and they are obviously doing a good job because they are in such high demand.
It's really a five star place- I'm only giving four simply because:
1.) I think they really ought to add more weekend and evening hours. Staying open till 6 or 7 seems reasonable enough to me. Maybe they could offer normal hours on Sat and Sun and take a Tuesday off if they can't be 7 days a week.
2.) When you call you sometimes get busy signals for awhile. Voicemail would be really useful, or more lines. The receptionists do a good job balancing the greeting and checking people in and out, plus handling the busy phones but it's not easy.
3.) When you call after hours you can't leave a message and you just have to call back during business hours. When you work full-time it is hard to remember to call during the work day.
All and all it's easy to see that everyone who works there does it 'cause they genuinely love and care about the animals in their care. I remember about 7 years ago or so having to have that impossibly hard conversation with Dr. Hack about our family cat who was passing away and my mother not wanting to put her to sleep. His compassion and understanding of our pain and our cat's peace and well being was really clear and I still remember it vividly. They are good people and I appreciate that.
So I must admit, our visit began with a disaster.
I had made the appointment, clearly for the SF location (we live in Berkeley so San Jose is WAY far away for us) and when my whole family showed up there no one was there. We had 4 cars and 10 people there. We waited in the hall and called every few minutes for about 20 mins before someone picked up. They had somehow flubbed the time and booked us for San Jose. We were obviously VERY upset and most of our family had to head back to the east bay after wasting their morning.
BUT... and it's a BIG BUT, they did the right thing and made it up to us. They offered the few of us that could make it to come to San Jose and get a complementary session. It was a very long day of driving for us but we were happy with the appointment once we got there.
It was clean and nice. The pictures came out great. The technician was nice and knew how to get really good facial shots. They gave us the gold package so we had plenty of great pictures and a DVD to share with the family who had missed it.
Even though it took the whole day (7 hours with all the driving and waiting) and a full tank of gas, we enjoyed the experience and we're thankful that they did the right thing and made it up to us. We were happy with the end product and I'd recommend them but defiantly triple check your appointment.
Tilden is one of the things that makes living in Berkeley so great.
It is simply beautiful. There is so much to do, the little trains being my favorite, and so much to see and explore. I've lived in Berkeley for over 25 years (yes most of my life) and I still love just driving up to tilden and exploring new trails.
The best part is it is this pretty huge regional park right near by, just nestled up in the hills, it's really easy to get to.
I love tilden.
Not only do we love Golden Gate Grooming but our miniature poodle Lucky just adores them.
While Lucky does love to almost anyone who pays attention to him, he does not like getting groomed, at least until we started going to Mike and Dana.
They are just wonderful with him and he comes out cheerful, happy and as handsome as can be!
I was seriously looking at this place for a wedding reception venue but had an unpleasant experience with them. I called left messages and must have sent 4 emails, all saying I was looking for a reception venue on a specific date. They did not reply for almost a month. When they did they said they had "management transitions, and the fate of our events program was undetermined."
Again I asked the same question I had been asking for the past month and they finally told me they don't rent it as a reception site on Sat, even though their website says they do.
With an undetermined events program and lack of management, I for one as a Bride, wouldn't want to book there.

I was planning a dinner party at my house when of course disaster struck and my old gas stove/oven suddenly stopped working.
I spent FOREVER trying to find someone to fix my old gas stove. Were were getting the most ridiculous quotes like $160 just to give us an estimate! I was stressed and I needed same day service and I finally found Oakland Appliance Repair (it seems to also be called Oakland Fremont Appliance Repair or San Francisco Oakland Appliance Repair) I am so totally happy with the service and price I got from Oakland Appliance Repair. I called around and they had by far the best rates and were willing to service a broad area. There is also a $10 off coupon on their website for you bargain hunters.
The had the best estimate rates and we got the whole thing taken care of for $200. Langford, who did our repair was a nice older no nonsense kinda fella.
So there ya go yelpers, when your oven breaks the night before a dinner party, you know who to call :)
Oh Grocery Outlet, or as my family calls it Ghetto Outlet
Ok, I know maybe I shouldn't be as proud of my oh-so-regular patronage as I am, but I have been going to this GO since I was a wee one and I do love it.
This particular GO has the best selection of stuff. You'll totally stumble into a variety of Organic Fair Trade Vegan treats and great wines at half off or more. It also has fruits and veggies, home and garden stuff and beauty products.
The only reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is that it IS called Ghetto Outlet for a reason.
