But Aurora deserves her own review and a separate set of 5 stars! She is one of the best hairstylist I've ever met...Ever.
She's got this skill down ~ knows hair and what to do with it. She is understanding, and supportive & whenever I don't know what to do with my hair she offers creative suggestions.
Make an appointment and give her a chance, you'll be happy you did!
Shapes Studios is a darling spacious and bright salon! Tucked upstairs on the 4th Floor of the Historic Phelan Building Downtown SF, it could be difficult to spot with the Naked Eye. But once you've discovered this 'gem' you will never forget.
My appointment was with Aurora, many of you remember I wrote about Ms. Aurora many moons ago, she is my amazing hairstylist in SF. I've just moved back to The Bay from L.A. and was excited to transform my hair to match this recent change in my life.
I can't tell you how wonderful it is to sit in Aurora's chair again, she's very passionate about what she does, making you feel special and making your hair look beautiful. "We decided" to throw some color in it this time, it's been two years or a little longer since I've colored my hair, and it turned out perfect. Aurora chose what was best for me, based on a couple of pictures I brought in.
I also had the pleasure of sitting and chatting with Tereza for a little while and she is one incredible woman!
MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WHEN YOU HAVE TIME...YOU WILL BE HAPPY YOU DID =)
This may very well be...my last L.A. review =(
I'm moving back to the Bay Area and I will surely miss Tina at Healing Hand Spa.
For some selfish reason I didn't write this review sooner. I've been getting my pedi's done here for a year and a half. Not on a regular two-week basis, but every time I can afford to treat myself to one...I come see Tina. She's the best! Most of us have had our share of pedicures, and we all know when we have one that was extra well-done ~ this is what I feel every time Tina has taken on the task of prettying up my feet. She doesn't rush and she does it right!
Everyone who works here has been courteous and helpful. Occasionally I've called for a same-day appointment and sometimes I've walked in. They are pretty busy on the weekends so you are taking a chance walking in. Once or twice Tina has been unavailable to see me on the same day, but I waited a day and came back in to see her. Yesterday, they even called her and asked her to come in because I requested her; and she was happy to. WOW, now that's great customer service.
First visit & Yum! I really enjoyed my breakfast at Kokomo this past weekend ~ I had the croissantwitch w/out bacon...and potatoes on the side, it was great.
The layout of this place is cute and felt spacious to me.
The service was awesome. Our waiter was attentive and charming, and that is a huge plus at 9:30 on a Sunday morning. It was pleasant. I will definitely go back for more of the "good eats".
Driving to Studio City for Arnold's exceptional service is completely worth it!!! I live in mid-city/wilshire area, and I was working at USC Park Campus when I first visited this shop; but the outstanding customer service I've received keeps me coming back.
I highly recommend bringing all of your copy/printing needs to Arnold. He's friendly, and considerate. He offers affordable prices, great turn-around time and does a fantastic job on the finished product.
Once again!!! I am so happy with my haircut. Tomoko has a gift. Please visit UK Salon and give her the opportunity to enhance her skills.
I have thin hair - so I suppose it can be "difficult" ~ I've been growing it out for the past few of months, mostly out of laziness. But also, b/c I didn't know what I wanted to do with it since my last cut by Tomoko (when I decided to go "short")
See *new posted pic. I love this style. She does all the work and I get the compliments for it =)PI've been meaning to write this review for (wow, what is it...a month now?)
To start, I must say, I… En savoir plus
I "heart" MILK. This is one of my favorite places to pop into on the weekends for a special treat. I do try different sweets but wasn't thrilled with the Milkyway Malt Shake or the banana/chocolate tart (can't remember the exact name). But I will remain loyal to the Red Velvet cupcakes (poppers or regular size)
There are still so many other sweets here I want to taste!
Parking? I've been lucky - but eventually MILK will need to find a solution. It was nice to have the option to park across the street, but all of a sudden El Coyote was like "we're not sharing spaces anymore - NO MILK customers" REALLY? Boooooooooooooo.
Is there something special for the 40th review(er)??? A cookie possibly?
I went to Sauce for dinner last night - I spent the day reading all of the reviews and was anticipating the experience. Not following my directions; just knowing in my mind "where I was going" - I got lost, behind schedule, and ended up pretty late to meet my friend (sorry Cal) Parking was a bit challenging...but alas I made it =)
I had to try the lemonade/iced tea: what's that an Arnold Palmer? ok. Sounds good to me!
I ordered the Ahi Tuna Steak - beautifully seared and perfectly presented with my two sides, the kale and sweet potatoes. Everything was fresh, and tasted amazing. I sampled my friend's salmon (special) and spinach and mushrooms - yum.
Really want to go back and try breakfast, which is served all day (a major plus) one of these days.
dock 1 star for the stupidest reason - yet, it's my reason; we weren't offered any cookies. Maybe because I read all the reviews, I acted as if I'd been there before - and/or maybe they only give cookies to people they "like" or "look like first time visitors" ? ? ? I can't figure it out, but I wanted to be offered one! As full & satisfied as I was, I had no room for dessert, but I would have made room for one of those 'free' choc. chip/macadamia nut cookies I read about in so many of the reviews.
