Stopped here for lunch yesterday, around 1 PM. Sat outside which was really nice, though I think it's harder for the servers (they have to navigate the traffic on State Street sidewalks).
According to the menu, the place prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients as much as possible, which is fantastic!
We started off with two fantastic Long Island Iced Teas (hey, we're on vacation!). Husband had the Ode to the Paseo sandwich, which was really good. I had the White Cap Roast Beef sandwich, which was ok. The beef was a little tough. The whole sandwich could use more seasoning and gravy.
Fries were phenomenal with a great seasoning, and they were HOT!
Stayed here a few weeks ago. Parking was kind of far from hotel. However, the lobby was beautiful and I really liked the room we had. I requested a quiet room and they gave us a room at the end of a hallway in the corner.
One set of windows had beautiful views of the Des Plaines river and the surrounding woods. Saw deer!
Decor was modern and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Curtains were wonderful dark-out curtains for sleeping. Room was spacious.
Main complaint was room service, but I'm not going to ding the hotel itself for that. One of the things we ordered was a sirloin sandwich. I requested it medium. I thought it would be a whole piece of steak. It was a ground sirloin sandwich (aka a burger). That was very disappointing.
For the price we paid, it was great. Many seem to complain about the not so free Wi-Fi. I also hate paying for Wi-Fi. But I booked through their website, which included free Wi-Fi, so I was happy :)
AWESOME! Finally checked this place out at my dad's suggestion. Didn't eat in house, but purchased things to take home. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd probably shop there all the time. They have fresh produce, great cheese and meat selection, and prepared foods easy to make at home.
We purchased a frozen lasagna and had that for a few meals....it tasted so fresh and simple. Husband thought it was some of the best he's ever had. I also bought a few different bags of their frozen pasta. Today for lunch we had the frozen lobster ravioli. OMG it was amazing! The lobster was in big chunks and very flavorful. We've gotten lobster ravioli from Costco before, which doesn't hold a flame to what we had today.
Still have a few things I can't wait to try, including their homemade pizza sauce, meat pasta sauce, and a few more frozen raviolis (portobello mushroom ravioli and goat cheese ravioli).
Will definitely be back and pick up staples whenever I'm in MKE.
This is a delayed review, but went here a few summers ago with a group of colleagues. It was dead around lunch hour on a Saturday during the summer, which should have been a sign. Everything, including the service and the food, was just ok. No strong desire to go back.
Cute place with good food and friendly service! Atmosphere is WI bar/superclub, kind of old school. Food wasn't fancy, but really good and service was fantastic. Would love to go back here next time we are in the area.
Went here for lunch today and I REALLY liked this place! Especially good for those of us on a low carb diet. We went around 1 PM on a Monday, which was nice, because it was a bit slower. I'm not sure how they manage all the cooking when the place is full!
Others have already commented on what kind of place this is. There are recipes and recipe cards on the wall, which provide some good inspiration. Server was very friendly and attentive to drink refills and the like. Price is very reasonable for the amount of food you can potentially have.
I worry a little bit about the sanitation of the place, however. I think they should have hand sanitizer everywhere, but didn't see any anywhere. We saw a woman packing about four bowls worth of food into one bowl, and she would put raw meat on top of her bowl, pack it down with her hand, then grab other tongs to put more stuff on top. Totally cross contaminating everything. I was so glad we were done eating by that point.
As others have mentioned, this place has AMAZING chocolate covered raspberries. They seem to maybe have a little bit of raspberry liqueur in them as well? These raspberries are to die for and a very special treat. Can't say I've bought much else here, but seems like a great place with a large selection!
Recently went here for my dad's 70th birthday, hadn't been in years. It was FANTASTIC. All staff were very professional and very attentive. Bartender made sure our drinks were always refreshed and kept the wood-burning fireplace in the bar area going.
Three of us got the "Glidden" which is their 10 oz tenderloin, served on top of toast points with blue cheese and a merlot reduction sauce. It was amazing. Some have complained their toast points were soggy, mine were not. Biggest surprise for me was that we ordered three different temperatures of steak, I got the rarest (medium rare) and totally expected it to be overcooked. Not at all, it was perfect temperature, best I've had in awhile.
Note that you can "gliddenize" any steak, and get the toast points, blue cheese, and merlot sauce.
My only complaint is I wish the salad bar had a few more different veggies on it.
Beautiful setting on the shores of Lake Michigan!
We have NOT had anything installed from this place yet, but will update review when we do.
My husband contacted Keystone trying to find quartzite for our home remodel. Melissa put us in touch with a place in the Chicago area, where we were able to go find beautiful slabs of quartzite and we chose slabs for our kitchen.
Made it to Keystone the end of this year. Our slabs had been transferred to Keystone. Melissa was INCREDIBLY helpful. She let us view the remnants they had, which helped us consider stones we might not otherwise choose. We chose two remnants for a bathroom and a wet bar. Picked out quartz for the rest of the bathrooms. Got to see our quartzite slabs.
Melissa was VERY knowledgeable about the stones, the different finishes available, and quickly got us a quote. Unfortunately, we recently got notice that she will not be working there any longer. Not sure why, but I'm really sad about it, because she was amazing.
