I'm a big fan of two things: 1) Food trucks and 2) all things UT Longhorns. What makes me like Rock 'n' Sandwiches so much? It's a new, delicious food truck in Houston that was opened by a fellow Longhorn!
I'd seen this snazzy little black truck a few times while making my way to Little Woodrows in Midtown. People were always crowded around the truck but I never got up to see what the hussel and bussel was all about for myself! This past Sunday, I made my way over to get a taste of what everyone was talking about. RnS has a unique little menu and everything on it sounded delicious. Since I was having dinner with my mom later that evening, I decided to get the wings. Little did I know, these flappers were pretty meaty! Very juicy and delicious. My friends ordered a Paradise City and Napoli Burger. The burger was pretty delicious but the bite I had of Paradise City had me hooked! And by "bite," I meant half of the sandwich. Yummy Italian sausage on flat bread? Mmmm. The table next to us ordered a couple of Stairway to Heavens and they were very pleased.
Paradise City: Grilled Italian sausage, roasted red peppers, sauteed onions, shredded Parmesan
Stairway to Heaven: Pan-fried chicken Parmesan, tomato sauce, dressed spinach and arugula, shredded Parmesan
Besides Turtle Racing Thursdays, Little Woodrows has found another reason for me to keep coming back thanks to Rock 'n' Sandwiches. If you're a TEXAS EX, or fan of food, come out and support this newcomer!
I am still obsessed with this place. And yes, I still order the triple spicy chicken every time I go.
I come here a little too often that the owner and some of her staff know my order and my family.
The owner is the sweetest woman. She makes this place fantastic.I absolutely LOVE this place.
The Triple Spicy Chicken does it for me. And yes, it is spicy.

My senior year came along and I figured I should do the whole graduation photos like all the other fancy college students do. I didn't want to settle for the ones you take after you walk off the stage - me + cap + being rushed = disaster. I saw the proofs and good thing I chose to go the professional route.
Jenny Fu is such an amazing photographer. She's very talented and really knows how to capture you at your best. I am not the cutest thing but she really managed to produce 20 pictures of me looking great. She's so professional, knows what she's doing, and really wants your input on your pictures. Jenny had Laura Martinez do my make up for me and it looked flawless. I was very impressed and she adjusted well to my look considering one of my eyes is different from the other. o_O - just like that
Weddings, senior portraits, or other event pictures - give Jenny a shot. You can see one of my senior photos on my Yelp pictures. :)
Today, Dolce Finale hosted a free tasting of their smoothies, paninis, and gelato from 3pm-8pm. Free? Of course, I was there.
I tried about 5 different flavors of gelato; raspberry, strawberry, tiramisu, vanilla, and another one I can't remember. They were very good and very flavorful. I also got to eat half of Torino Panini. It had grilled chicken breast, mozzarella, and roasted peppers. Honestly, when I first saw it, I didn't think it would taste very good. It just looked like it would be really bland and cold. Surprisingly, it was warm, and extremely flavorful. I'm not the biggest panini fan but I really liked this one! The mozzarella really gave the panini a great taste.
The set up for this place is really nice. Very spacious and modern furniture. My favorite place this couch-like area you can sit at. It has pillows so it almost looks more like a day bed. Haven't seen one of these at a cafe so it was nice change. Definitely check this place out. If you go to UT, it's pretty convenient to get to and parking wasn't too bad. I'll be swinging by here more often since it's gonna be hot and gelato will make it all better.
I love this website so much that I had to do a review for this - I don't know if websites are normal for Yelping :)
I stumbled upon thepaparazzigirl.com while Facebooking and not studying. Very cute clothes that won't leave me homeless. I tried to resist buying anything because I was attempting not to spend money on anymore clothes, I have way too much and some I still haven't worn. For those who read my reviews, you know I finally hemmed my one year old jeans. And yes, I have several more items still waiting to be worn. Cute clothes are irresistible to me. I gave in, I'm a weak woman. Resistance is futile.
I ordered (okay, okay, Jason ordered) the Urban Dress - it was love at first sight. It took only 3 days for this bundle of joy to show up at my door. I ordered at large - normally I wear a medium but the site specified that this dress runs a bit small. The dress was a perfect fit and made of very light material, doesn't feel cheap or flimsy either. I matched it with a nice belt and voila! Cute clothes, great prices? Hard to resist. I'm excited for a larger collection.
***A picture of me in my dress is currently the profile picture on my facebook:
Note: flat rate shipping of $6 regardless of how much you buy! Another excuse to buy more :)
When it comes to my car, I'm clueless and I despise maintaining it. Well today was the day; I needed to get my oil changed. I hate the whole experience; dirty, crowded waiting rooms, pushy guys trying to tell me everything is wrong with my car, the uneasy feeling I would get that they really didn't do anything to my car. Well, I didn't get that here.
First, the waiting area is kind of cute, strange right? Decent comfy chairs, cute/funny posters, and friendly faces. Within 5 minutes, they were half way through working on my car. Pretty fast considering there were tons of people.
So far so good, but just as I expected, the mechanic came in to say, "Hi Katherine? Can I talk to you really quick about your car?" Ugh, those dreaded words. To my surprised, all the nice guy said was, "everything looks good, I don't know if you have a regular mechanic but if you do, have him look at this hose because it's starting to swell. I'll put a note on your receipt to remind you exactly which one it is." I mentioned that I changed my belt (is that right?) recently and noticed it was making some noises so he said he'll look at it and tighten it for me. WHAT??! WHAT?! No harassing sales pitch; no "oh we can do it here in 5 minutes" and no passive aggressive mean looks when you say no? How dare you not try to talk me out of my savings? Being honest?? I don't like it one bit because you'll jade me for all other oil changes.
Best surprise was the free car wash. It had been hand washed, vacuumed, and nicely cleaned out. My total came to $34.95. I wanted to throw my hands in the air then and say, 'WHAT IS THE CATCH!!!!!?" I was expecting $50+ since that's what I normally have to pay. I left very, very happy. The car wasn't even half-ass cleaned, they really actually did a great job. Definitely go here, this is going to be my new regular spot for sure. Friendly people, genuine service, and no harassment.
This is the cutest nail shop I've ever been to. Very pink and very girly so it was perfect. I came here with my sorority for Mom's Weekend last weekend. The prices were very reasonable and didn't blow a hole through your pockets. I got a great manicure for $20 and have been receiving compliments all weekend. My nails look flawless, almost like I'd gotten fake ones, but the girls just really know what they're doing. There is a small selection of nail polishes but the colors are great. This salon is different from what you would expect. Rather than having those large massage chairs, they have smaller, comfortable sofa-like chairs. The manicure bar is a great idea because I didn't always like the single stations at traditional nail salons, especially if the person doing your nails doesn't like to socialize. The ladies working there are so friendly and very sweet. They offer drinks - of course I got the mimosa. It was 1pm on a Saturday, why hadn't I had a drink already? :P
What really made me love this place was the fact that it's a salon AND boutique. The boutique had a small but very adorable selection of clothes, accessories, and knickknacks. I saw this very chic, pink handbag that I fell in love with but had to resist. I have no self control and had to rationalize myself into not buying it. It was only $20! Prices at the boutique were similar to the salon; not too pricey.
Check this place out, it's perfect for a relaxing day of pampering without costing you the arm and leg you beautified.
Note: it is a bit difficult to find but coming from Mopac to Bee Caves, it is on the left right after a small road called Beaver Trail.
Best customer service I've had EVER.
I purchased my Blackberry Bold 9700 at a T-mobile store off of William Cannon and S. Mopac (also good customer service) and even after two hours, my data plan had not started yet. I dropped by this one since it's right by mi casa with a simple request, "hellllpppppp meee!!!"
Josh came to the rescue! He kept trying to reboot my phone until it received the data service and never once did he suggest that I go home and just wait. I also had problems sending text messages and he made sure to take a thorough look and fix the problem. He also went above and beyond to help me set up my email, Blackberry apps, and answer any minor questions I had. I didn't feel like he was bothered by my silly questions at all. Great, great service.
Another note: I called T-mobile's customer service line a few days back to inquire about purchasing a Blackberry and what all would come with it. She noticed my mom had received one for Christmas and asked if my mom and asked how she liked it. I stated that my mom merely texted and took pics on her phone. The operator actually told me that my mom was paying too much for her data plan and lowered it to the $25 plan ($10 cheaper). Realizing that a Blackberry was too high-tech for my mom, she actually suggested my mom return the phone and purchase a CHEAPER phone with NO DATA PLAN!
5 Star customer service, in the store and through customer service, for sure!
I've been here only a few times, no recently, but the prices are pretty good and the decor is cute. I've always found the staff to be really sweet and friendly, no complaints there. Beds are pretty clean but I prefer the stand-up, which they no longer have. Sometimes the light bulbs are dead and haven't been changed.
They're under new management, so now the name is actually The Hills at Tramor or Tramor at the Hills (either one)
Pretty good management company. A lot better than any other I've dealt with. When I moved in, they made sure that everything was what I expected and if not, they would change it right away. I noticed that my blinds in my living room were a bit hard to open so I called the office around 3pm to have take a look at it. By 3:45pm, I had brand new blinds in my living room. The ladies in the office are really friendly as well. I always feel welcomed and not just a bother.
As a side note, my friend lives at Tramor at the Arboretum and he raves about the management company all the time.
