I got married here, and it was a dream.
First off my coordinator was Cassie, and she was absolutely fantastic! We originally toured the facility with her thinking it would be good practice for when we find that one venue. Immediately we fell in love with the decor and ambiance. It doesn't help we're history and art suckers and there's a GIANT mural done by Diego Rivera in the venue. The mural itself is stunning.
We fell in love very quickly with the venue, but we had concerns that it wasn't going to work with our budget. We gave Cassie our number, and she was able to come in and give us more than what we expected with the quote. One of the big appeals to us was food, booze, and day of rentals (linens, tables, chairs, etc) were included with the venue quote. Decor wise, there really isn't much to do because the venue itself is so beautiful.
The entire process of getting everything (and everyone) coordinated was a breeze thanks to Cassie. She was able to work with our anal retentiveness, and answered all questions we threw at her. The day of the wedding I didn't have to worry about a thing except show up and walk down the aisle. She had everything under control in conjunction with the food coordinator she works with in house.
I highly recommend looking at them and seeing if they are a fit for your event. They will definitely work with you to make sure everything is a success.
I discovered Will doing a search on Yelp. My then fiance, now husband, and I were planning our wedding, and trying to find a DJ that would fit our needs, and our budget. We found him here on yelp, jumped over to his website to listen to his stuff, and proceeded to have a dance party in our house.
Will made our wedding that much better. He understood our need for light and fun, and got on the bandwagon with some of our inside jokes (he had sideburns and wore glasses referencing Elvis). He was all about the little details for us (playing C is for cookie when we did our cookie dunk). He gave us suggestions for songs when we were stumped. He added his own touch to the wedding playing his trumpet with his DJ set.
People still tell us to this day our wedding was one of the best weddings they've ever been to (been married a year and a half now), and part of that is because of Will. Since we've gotten married, I have proceeded to pass his information along to multiple firends, including an event for the SF Opera. Hands down he is an accomplished musician, and he will make your event even more special than it already is.
I've been to drybar twice.
The first time I did it as a way to pamper myself before a family Wedding Anniversary Celebration. I wanted my hair to look amazing and thus I would feel amazing. I went in and the stylist was did a really good job.
Then I walked outside...
The thing about living in San Francisco and having naturally curly hair (cue the hand gesture from Frieda in Peanuts) is that all hell breaks loose once you step outside, so I've learned that product is my friend. I don't know if she just styled it bad or didnt give me enough product to hold down my hair, but by the time I got home, my hair was a hot mess, and my whole feeling amazing totally deflated.
I did send an email to their corporate office about it when they emailed me to ask how my experience was. Because I had such a bad experience, they totally gave me a comp session, which I appreciated.
That experience itself was good. I had a pleasant experience, and I felt amazing the day I went. The style lasted the next day as well, which was really nice.
But I still probably won't go back. The thing is while this is a great service, running the chance of walking out and having my hair being a hot mess makes me nervous. That and my salon can do the same thing with better products and guarantee me amazing hair for the same amount. To me it's a no brainer... go with what you know.30/03/2013 Dear Diana,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with us. I'm so very sorry for the… En savoir plus
I have only been to this place once, but once was enough for me to realize how good this place is. It's been over 6 months and I am still dreaming about their paella.
This place is excellent if you are looking for a snazzy date night place in the inner sunset. Conveniently, this place is walking distance from my house, which also means a quick stumble home if it gets to that. I honestly recommend getting a bunch of small plates and then sharing the paella. That paella is easily my favorite thing to eat, and is probably dangerous to eat alone, but if you are sharing, well make sure you don't have the epic battle over the last muscle. Heck maybe even your honey will be that guy who just gives it to you (thanks honey).
Just on the safe side, you may want to get a reservation. My boyfriend and I did, but when we went there was also no line. There was a bunch of people waiting through when we left. To me to get a reservation anywhere in San Francisco is just smart.
I have decided that when I die, I want my last meal to be Foreign Cinema.
The food is that good. The menu changes daily, but honestly anything you have here is going to be good. Like good to the point where you will melt like that critic character who melted when he had ratatouille in the movie Ratatouille. That is how I felt when I came there.
I came with my boyfriend because we wanted to go to a nice dinner for our anniversary. We started with a appetizer of oysters, which were completely amazing. Super tasty and fresh. Following this, my boyfriend had the five spiced duck, which was really yummy. I had the Kobe style steak. I consider myself to be a really excellent cook, and the steak was on a completely different level. I told my boyfriend that this is the kind of meal I wish I could cook. He said I could, which was sweet, but I realized how much I need to learn in order to get to this level.
The service staff is amazing! Our waiter gave us excellent recommendations for our oysters as well as wine. He was even understanding to my food allergies (I am gluten free) and made sure the staff making my food would be very careful for it. He also acted like it was no big deal that I was gluten free. Being someone who is a bit sensitive about sharing that information really put me at ease because I always hate getting the "oh she is gluten free" look that some restaurants will give you. Really, it meant the world to me.
We didn't end up having a dessert, but damn was that dessert menu tempting. I almost wished we did, but in reality it was probably smarter to not. We would have been in a massive food coma.
My boyfriend and I discovered this place by doing a search on yelp for nearby dinner restaurants from our beach hike. We picked this place because it was close to where we were at the time as well as it being close to the hotel we were staying. The food on the menu looked good, and they had wine options.
When we got there, we had to wait for a few minutes because they had to set a table for us. They offered us a drink, but we looked at the list and decided to get a bottle for dinner so we asked if we could wait. We were also sitting on couches and for some reason a bottle of wine and a couch just didn't seem like a good idea.
When we were seated, our waiter was prompt and friendly. After much thought, I decided to have the Roasted Chicken while my honey decided to have the Gnocchi. We did opt to start with some marinated olives which were quickly brought out and devoured along with the bread they gave us.
It took them a while to bring out our plates because the waiter forgot to tell me that my Roasted Chicken takes 20 minutes to prepare. He quickly rectified the situation by apologizing and bring us some complimentary hors d'oeuvres, which were amazing. In reality it didn't really matter because we were enjoying watching the sunset together at our table.
When they finally brought out the meal, it was well worth the wait. Both meals were beyond our expectations. It was actually a better meal than we had the following night, which we made reservations for to celebrate our much delayed anniversary.
I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone I encounter because of the service and food. While it's a bit weird it's on a golf course, you easily get over that whole idea when you sit and enjoy the ambience and views.
I love Thai food. LOVE IT. And this place is conveniently close to my pad, so normally when the boy and I want Thai, we make the trek down to this place.
The food here is some of the best in the city. Seriously, they have awards and a pretty long line to back this up, but in reality it is all about the food. The one thing is that I am not a fan of their curries, but it has allowed me to try other things, like their eggplant stir fry with tofu, as well as their coconut soup. My boyfriend loves their Pad Si Yu, and he is gracious enough to let me have a bite or two of it.
While the space is small, the wait is worth it for the food alone. We have tried other Thai places in the area and none of them can compare. The service is really amazing as well. I can't tell you how many times I have left this place with a happy tummy. All I know is that I am going to keep on coming back!
I have the luxury of having my office cater my lunches everyday. It's really awesome because they bring in local restaurants and then I can try foods and then take my awesome boyfriend to these places at a later date. Unfortunately my guy is not a fan of Indian food, so whenever the office sends out an email saying were bringing in Indian Food, I get extra happy because I can get my fix in.
Today was that kind of day, and I was fortunate to try Viva Goa. While I never had Goan food before, I was definitely open to it as it seems similar to what I have eaten at other Indian restaurants.
This place has awesome food. The spice in it was perfect for me (and I am a big fan of spicy food) and the flavors complimented the spice so well. They brought us the following: Vegetable Samosas, Goan Chicken Masala, Vegetable Caldin, Chana Masala, and Naan. I tried it all and loved everything. The Samosas definitely had more of a kick to them than anything so if you aren't down with spice, I would recommend opting out of them.
I am not sure I will actually go and visit the restaurant considering it's in the Marina, and I live in the Sunset, and the boy isn't a fan of Indian Food, but that shouldn't stop you! If I can find an Indian Food buddy I will definitely make the trek out there. At least I can look forward to the next time my company sends an email telling me Viva Goa is catering lunch.
My boyfriend and I decided to go to Monterey for our (much delayed) anniversary. We didn't want to bust our wallets with a hotel stay, and we wanted something near the aquarium, so we hopped on aquarium site and found this place for a reasonable price and 2 miles away. Sold!
We got one of the queen beds with a jacuzzi and a fireplace. The room also came with a balcony, which was pretty cool, as we ate breakfast out there one of the days. It was perfect for what we needed. Somewhere nice where we could crash that was relaxing and reasonable. The jacuzzi itself is huge, and considering how big of a fan I am of taking baths, I was in heaven.
The staff was really nice. We didn't have much interaction with them, except to go down for our complimentary breakfast. Bagels, Cream Cheese, Yogurt, and Oatmeal. Completely worked for us, but if you are looking for an awesome bed and breakfast kind of breakfast, this isn't your place.
There was a flat screen TV in our place, but we didnt really use it except for noise in the background. The alarm clock had an MP3 hookup which was nice because we prefer music over TV. The fireplace was a bit of a disappointment. It really didn't look like it was on and it was on a timer that made a clicking noise when it was on. Bit annoying and a mood kill. They do offer wi-fi, but it can be a bit buggy at times.
One of the cool benefits is that it's walking distance from the beach. We took advantage of that and went for a walk Friday. There really isn't any dining places within walking distance, but we were able to find something. We did find out later they have service where you can order from any restaurant and they deliver to us. Would have been cool, but we were more about getting out and seeing the area.
Overall, we had an amazing stay and we definitely want to go back at some point. I signed up for their email list and they send me room deals, which is definitely appealing.
After writing my disappointing review for another local car wash company, I decided to hop on yelp and find another car wash company near my office. This car wash place came up on the list and I figured, why not, my car really needs a wash in the worst way and these guys can do something cheaper than the other place.
Overall I was pretty happy. Not only did they take great car of my car, they also got out some of those tough spots the other place couldn't. My car looked amazing and for the price, I really couldn't argue with the results.
The only thing that seemed a little weird is you drive your car through the car wash yourself. They aren't really good about instructing you to get through it so I fumbled that a bit but it was ok. The process overall was really quick, which was another perk.
