We went to La Cagette for dinner on our last night in Bordeaux. The restaurant had been highly recommended both by a friend who had visited a few months ago, and by social media reviews.
Unlike most of the restaurants we visited while in Bordeaux, La Cagette serves their food a la carte. This was a nice change of pace from the set menus we found elsewhere.
The ambiance is modern as opposed to traditional; very welcoming and warm. Service is quite good, and all the staffers we interacted with during our visit spoke very good English.
As for the food, everything we tried was very good, though not truly exceptional. Our stand out favorites were the Pates aux Coques (which was lovely and the Squash Soup (which was even better).
We very much enjoyed our dining experience, and I have no problem recommending La Cagette to others.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Laura G.Philadelphie, États-Unis232197729 nov. 2015
Stopped in for lunch before our wine tour, thanks to yelp.
I ordered filet wrapped in bacon, with carrots, don't quote me, but I think some sort of potato or gratin side, green beans, and a wonderful sauce that of course I can't remember.
The portion was extremely large and I think only around 12 euros. The restaurant was small, clean but rustic looking. Great french food at an affordable price.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aubrey M.Athens, États-Unis161121 févr. 2015
We spent 4 nights in Paris and 2 in Bordeaux and this was our favorite meal by far. The decor was more modern than traditional but very warm and welcoming. They update the menu weekly and we had 2 of the fish dishes and a salad. Loved it. Cooked perfectly with great sauces as well as side dishes. Friendly and fast service as well.

Stumbled upon this location our first night in Bordeaux for a late dinner. We ordered a number of small plates to share. Amazing first dinner in the city. We especially loved the chevre, the dried sausage (saucisson) and the carpaccio. I'm still thinking about that saucisson!

I had dinner in this restaurant with my mum. The location is great and we ate outside because the weather was good, so the environment was fantastic. We enjoyed the meal, we didn't find it expensive and the food had quality.

Great place for small plates, well done. Workers/owners are fabulous. Great way to sample different tastes. Totally recommend the potatoes with cream and serrano ham - you cannot go wrong. Guacamole is good as well. We had the mackerel and it was lovely. I would add this restaurant to your travels.
