TDLR: food not even good, overpriced for the taste and the fact that I found a rubber band in my food which ALSO stained the rice around it :o
I ordered Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken ($11.90) and extra vegetables (+$2), as part of my corporate order. Total online order was $16.52. Out of the four restaurants we ordered from today, this one delivered first.
The rice was not flavored at all, just oiled. I've tasted a lot of better pineapple fried rice dishes at Thai restaurants in Brooklyn. Good range of vegetables including a couple pieces of tomato, string beans, lettuce, broccoli, and cauliflower, though I don't know how much would've been there had I not ordered extra. Wasn't enough pineapple for me :\
And THEN I saw a rubber band in my meal. Yeah I'm probably not gonna order from here again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 98318246020 juin 2016
Well this place was half empty when we walked in while other Thai places down the block were packed and required 20-30 minuets wait time, so we kinda knew what to expect. But we didn't care anymore we just wanted beer and some thai food.
The food came out ok. We tried pad thai, green curry and papaya salad and nothing was memorable. Service was good though. So it's definitely an option if you are in the neighborhood and don't want to wait for 30 minutes for your pad thai and thai iced tea.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 10 sept. 2017
I was staying with a friend in New York City, and he really likes getting takeout from Wondee Siam II. We ordered a whole bunch of Thai food like pad thai and larb gai. Delivery came rather quickly.
I thought the food was just fine. Nothing groundbreaking, and there's so much Thai food around this area, I didn't really get why my friend liked this place so much. The portions were average, and the flavors didn't really excite me. Just standard fare.
They do have an eat-in place on 9th Avenue, and there always seem to be seats available. Take that for what it's worth.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 12 janv. 2015
Not since I saw Josh Groban in concert have I felt so satisfied!
I had a really, really nice late lunch here last Sunday. Service was fast and friendly. My massaman curry was delicious...sweet and just spicy enough. It was rich and tasty and the portion was just the right size. Prices are reasonable too.
I'm now pro-Wondee Siam II!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 6 févr. 2009
Two of us went to Wondee Siam I for dinner, but faced with waiting 15-minutes in the blistering cold, we headed down the block to Wondee Siam II.
Those who've been to Wondee I and II can't help but compare them. Wondee II could be considered the overflow location of the tiny Wondee I. There's more square footage, even a bathroom. Their decor's debatedly fancier, and you can use credit cards. On the flip side, Wondee II isn't a BYOB; beer and wine is available to order, and a $10 uncorking fee for any bottles that follow you in.
The host was friendly, seated us quickly, and discussed the menu with us. Our servers (Koi, and others) were present, taking our orders in a flash, and keeping our waters full.
Wondee II's cooking isn't as sharp as its older sibling, which was surprising, as their cooks rotate between locations. Still, their traditionally tasty Thai treats - repackaged due to higher rent, maybe? - were right down my alley:
- For an appetizer, we had the larb gai ($8.95), chopped chicken tossed with ground toasted rice, scallions, red onions and hot chili in a lime sauce. It was respectable, but no Wondee I.
- We continued to dine family style, the next dish being the catfish pad pett (12.95), fried sliced catfish sauteed with Thai eggplant, lime leaves, basil, bell peppers, and a red curry paste. It had a little kick, but wasn't my favorite.
- To round things off, we shared a plate of duck krapow (14.95) that was - kapow! - a highlight: crispy, warm, and a joy to eat. (We ended up taking home the catfish, but no duck krapow, sadly.)
Regulars of Wondee I may want to skip Wondee II, but if you find yourself here, it's not the end of the world.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - 24228224 oct. 2016
I've visited this place a few times over the years, but I'm rating on my most recent visit. A group of us popped in for a late dinner and there was plenty of space. We were seated right away. Everyone ordered a beer or tea and some entrees. For myself, I had the Tom Ka soup with shrimp and Basil fried rice. The soup was disappointing. It had two pieces of shrimp and nothing else but mushrooms. The menu also advertised the shrimp soup as $4, but when the bill came, it was $6. Not a big deal, but they should correct the menu. The fried rice was much better, though I asked for mild spice and it was more like medium.
Service was great. The wait staff is friendly and checks in on you frequently enough. The place itself is nice too. It's not that large, but I've never had a problem waiting for a table.
Overall, the food was the weak spot here. There are a lot of Thai restaurants on 9th ave., and this one is not a favorite. If you're looking for a quick, easy, and inexpensive Thai spot, I would recommend coming here. If you don't mind upping the price and wait time, I'd suggest venturing south.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 22 août 2008
Sometimes sequels don't live up to the hype of the original and that would be the case with this second coming of Wondee Siam. I don't understand why management would bother to have another Wondee Siam a few doors down when they could have opened another one somewhere else in the city. It would be easy to assume that most people would become confused after awhile, perhaps with mild deja vu as they stroll up and down Bangkok Boulevard (9th Ave).
Wondee Siam II is not only worse than its predecessor but is probably one of the weaker Thai joints in the area. The menu boasts the same prices, but the food hardly compares to version number one. Pad Thai has been a disappointment each time and so has the Pad See Yu. Appetizers are solid here, but none of the entrees have managed to get a second helping from myself or my dining companions.
If anything, the better option would be to consider getting take out here. Delivery is quick as well and with good reason: everyone else is eating at Wondee Siam I.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 98674184814 mai 2016
Good lunch spot on ninth avenue. $8.95 deal that comes with choice of soup or spring roll and entree. The entree size is pretty large! Seated quickly and got our food at a good time. The pad see ew wasn't bad but felt like the dish was out for a while after it was cooked. The top part was kind of cold. Overall, if you're not picky and just looking for a spot to sit down and chow quickly, this is a good option. I also liked that they had pineapple fried rice as part of the lunch special. More options than other thai places in the area.

I first came here before I was vegan and - as a couple other people have said about this place - BEST PAD THAI EVER. I don't know what they put in it to make it taste so good (crack?) but the balance of flavors is absolutely amazing. A little sweet, slightly tart, just the right amount of salt, not too dry nor too moist, and the noodles were neither mushy nor chewy. I could not stop eating it despite being ridiculously full.
The first time, I ordered it with vegetables and tofu, and the second time was just with tofu. I must say that the variety of vegetables that came with the former was a vegetarian's dream: LOTS of broccoli, cauliflower, baby corn, carrots ... yum.
But even when I came here after going vegan and asked for no fish sauce and no egg, the Pad Thai still tasted REALLY good. Obviously, not quite as good as with the fish sauce, but still FAR better than other places when you have the fish sauce taken out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
