I've always thought of Eat as a quick sandwich stop but today while browsing I noticed they also offer hot meals.
I was a little disappointed the main hot meal of pulled pork wasn't available (and as their menu boards are electronic surprised it hadn't been removed from being advertised...) so opted for the more expensive steak and red wine pie instead.
My biggest pet peeve here is the cutlery. Don't serve something like pie on a plate and then give me plastic knives and forks that just don't cut through the crust base.
The food is nice but that's ruined it for me honestly.

I hadn't been here for years until today, I used to be a regular in my A level and art foundation years and am so glad I still live relatively close by.
I was only dropping in for some thread but had a proper browse because they always have such fun stuff. I was really impressed with the newer bridal section upstairs and had to refrain from buying so many pretty things just because! They sell all the basics from fabrics and haberdashery, knitting supplies, a whole range of other crafts and some limited tools as well. The staff are always really friendly and helpful and I noticed there were a lot more of them then there used to be which was great!

Just my works local Robert D but the staff here are awesome and always really helpful. They must think I'm some weirdo cause I come in quite often and always for really different stuff but they're always super knowledgable and serve with a smile!

Both one of my favourite romantic spots and most hated tourist spots in London.
      Why I hate it:
Its expensive, like the overpriced kind of expensive. It's now owned by Merlin, who ruin everything with their overpricing and gimmicks. It makes my favourite spot on the Southbank busy as hell during the day which just generally aggravates me and makes it not my favourite spot anymore. The daytime and weekend queues are pointless. You usually have to share your pod with strangers who get in your way.

      BUT...
Get it at the right time and it's pure perfection.
Now you can pay extra to have an evening pod to yourself with champagne, which other than the presence of the champagne serving Merlin staff member (who I'm certain is there to stop any naughty behaviour!) is a super romantic thing to do and for any unimaginative folk a beautiful way to propose (well awkward for all 3 pod members on the way down if she says no...).
OR you can time it perfectly! Go late. The Internet tells me it closes at 8:30 though I'm sure I've caught a ride when it's dark in the summer. If you're lucky you'll only have a couple other people in your booth, and honestly the beautiful view over London at night is truly the most romantic spot in London. Nothing more perfect than a comedic dip kiss when you hit the top!

The National Gallery really is a fantastic place. It houses so many familiar paintings and is curated well.
This most recent visit was for a very specific purpose, to see Henri Rousseau's Tropical Storm, and take some photographs of me in front of the painting. I checked in advance whether photography was allowed and was very pleasantly surprised that it is! The website is incredibly useful and made it very easy to find where the painting was prior to our visit.
